the "EZMONEY" poll
I would agree with you, except I look at this as entertainment. I hope to be much busier in the near future, since I'm definitely NOT hitting any jackpots. I also enjoy debating about the more philosophical matters like envy greed. There are some great people on LP and, yes, the board is a microcosm of society as a whole. The good, the bad and the way out there! I don't think talking about the possibility of a member winning the PB is the same as watching Anna Nicole, Paris or Britney or whoe

My Least Favorite 4 Letter Word
Coin Toss, I don't see where Scary was saying that pick-3 or pick-4 would be a huge lottery win - just that the luck factor applies much more to games with higher odds. Anyway, one reason I am against publishing a press release about wins less than a million is hit a Pick 3 and call up a family member, close friend, or go into work and say you won the lottery . See what happens. When there is a Raffle or someone wins Gas For A Year, all people see in the paper or hear on TV is Susan Joh

Oregon Lottery to start new raffle game
No, that's not an appropriate odds calculation because every ticket sold is $20. If you were playing regular lotto, where tickets sell for $1, and you bought $20 worth of tickets, then you could apply some kind of per-dollar odds calculation, but you can't do that when the base price is $20. It i more appropriate to compare it to a $20 scratch-off that only has a printing of 250,000 tickets, rather than the millions they normally print. People play the raffle games BECAUSE there are on

This is really weird!
I've always viewed QPs like a raffle where I'm hoping the drawn numbers will match the numbers on the QPs and playing my own picks is trying to guess which numbers will be drawn. If I had a good idea of what the number distribution should be, I'd use the QP generator on this site and play the combination(s) that matched it. In Ohio we win a buck by matching 2 numbers and can pick 5 numbers, get a QP or put the buck in our pocket. On the Florida website it says When a ticket with 2-of-5 winnin

POLL: Do you play every drawing or not?
With me the answer would be yes and no. I run a lottery pool at my job, and we play every Powerball and Lotto drawing. If we win anything short of a jackpot, I poll the membership and we decide how to spend the money. The last few times, we bought extra tickets and when Louisiana was doing the Millionaire Raffle, we bought one of those as a group. On my own, I play Lotto and Easy 5 with Easy Match every drawing(2 per week). For Powerball though, I only play that one for myself when t

Is there a "Lottery Ego?"
I don't do the numbers thing like everyone else here, and I don't pretend to understand them. That said, my ex got my ego along with his happiness , his employee-girlfriend-wife, and their illegitimate 4 year old that was born 2 years before he even asked for the divorce. (yes, I am harboring a wee bit of bitterness) However, I do have the power of positive thinking, as long as I'm not thinking of my ex. I think that is part of my 'lottery personality'. As a matter of fact an

$100,000 Wisconsin lottery ticket going unclaimed
A Wisconsin lottery ticket worth $100,000 will be worthless if no one claims the prize in the next 10 days. The ticket for the Holiday Millions Raffle was purchased more than six months ago in Neenah and was one of 10 that won $100,000 in a New Year's Day drawing. But it's the only one that hasn't been used to claim the prize, and the 180-day claim period runs out June 27. Lottery spokesman Andrew Bohage says officials are hoping someone just forgot about the ticket and can still claim

PA Lotto Millionaire Raffle
Benmas, you make a valid point that I hadnt considered....the cost of the ticket verses the win.... It will sell out as they have the provisonal clause that the game may extend its draw date if the tickets dont sell out for the drawing. PA is populous and thereby a sure thing that it will sell out.... I am waiting though since my one store said they havent been selling as quickly as they have in the past. Rumor has it that they will pick up Memorial weekend when folks are traveling thru th

POLL: Think about this one!
They already log every single sale. The log records the combination, the time, place and amount of the sale, and probably a few other things. How else would they know whetehr or not there was a winner other than waiting to see if one came forward? They also have at least some rudimentary ability to control what combinations are available. Every day some of the combinations for P3 and P4 sell out and are unavaiilable for the rest of that drawing period. The raffle games also have the ability to c

Are Quick Picks not random?
Drivedabizness, Since you've been in the industry and in CA. Would you please answer a couple of scratcher questions for me? 1. Are all the tickets sent out from the lottery office at once or do the retailers reorder them when they run out? 2. Are the tickets mailing random, I mean there are no higher winners amounts in one city than the next? it seems like the scratchers and raffle tickets and even the Super Lotto plus have higher occurance in LA county than any other. Or maybe it
