Math help/ Last Double digits appearing on the next Double.
Trying not confuse anyone, especially me. Just using the 2 digits in a normal P3 double. Odds only. We desired an easy-to-remember rule of thumb for the next double. Putting likelihood and probability aside for the moment. For example: Odds wise and Doubles only. There is a always a 25% better chance (odds wise) NO digits will repeat from one double to the next. Players can get a lot out of just plain ODDS in p3. Odds can go a long way as a beginning filter. We

Nebraska bill requiring disclosure of lottery odds advances
Nebraska lawmakers have advanced a bill requiring the state lottery to prominently disclose the odds of winning the biggest available prize in its game advertisements. The measure won first-round approval Monday on a 38-0 vote. The bill by state Sen. Suzanne Geist, of Lincoln, is designed to help players understand the astronomical odds of getting a big payoff and discourage people from playing when they can't afford it. The chances of winning would have to be displayed in a clear and c

Florida Fantasy 5
Agreed. Although at odds of 1/376,992, Fantasy 5 has the best odds of the Florida draw games, and is definitely winnable! (here's a pic of my win in 2014, towards the bottom of the page: Post Your Winning Tickets ) According to their annual reports, Florida also returns 64%-65% of sales revenue to the prize pools, which seems pretty decent to me. Unfortunately, the trend seems to be mammoth jackpots, with accompanying mammoth odds. That, plus the lower-tier prizes are ravaged to pum

Lottery Odds Of Winning
I didn't post the odds for a 5/52 + 1/10 I posted for a 5/52 and these are the odds for a 5/52: 5 1 in 2598960 Lotto America odds are calculated in exactly the same way as Powerball odds with formulas changed to account for the different number of balls?52 possibilities (rather than Powerball s 69) for the white balls and 10 possibilities for the Star Ball instead of Powerball s 26. The probability of matching the Star Ball is 1 in 10. Matching all five of the white balls would b

It doesn't really matter what numbers you chose for the Powerball/Mega Millions right?
Shooting for Match-5 in PB or MM is logical, since it's many times more likely. However, from a financial standpoint, it's a lousy bet, since the odds are so bad compared to what they once were. Several years ago, odds of Match-5 was 1 in 3.9 million for MM and something like 1 in 5.3 million for PB. Take a look at what the odds are now. Playing with the intent of winning 2nd isn't worthwhile for PB nor MM anymore. In my view, PB / MM are maybe worth playing is when the cash jackpot is at least

Do statistical trends exist?
I'm not a big player, I'm a biologist by training, so my knowledge is in that field. When I first started playing PB a few years ago, I tried to find a trend or pattern. And while I did find evidence that some numbers came up with more frequency than others, and some numbers hardly came up at all, in order to make those trends work for me, would require way more money than I'd be willing to invest. The odds were just too high to overcome with limited discretionary funds. And it didn't help that

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
In regards to the books in certain ranges: I'm not paying attention to books in certain ranges anymore, within reason. If a jackpot is won on book 112,000, I'd try to avoid ones within a few thousand of it, but expecting them to be a certain # away (within a small percent) as we've been assuming, was shot to hell with the 2 $20 Monopoly top prizes. The prizes were won on books 0055581 and 114089. The math on that game, as gatorsrok said, makes it so they should be in the range of 126,667 book

what you think is lotto rigged or it just luck
Last Sunday just for kicks I ran off 50 lines for Texas Lotto on LP's RNG then checked them against Saturday night's draw. Not one 3 number match for $3. Not one. Odds for Texas Lotto are 1 in 25,827,165. With those kinds of odds, it's easy to see why you and I don't win. It's simply luck. So, lesson for you is like Raven said, play a game with lower odds, or instead of playing big chunks of money, play one or two lines only. It really only takes one ticket to win. But to say the gam

Using the Cartesian plane in a lottery?
Those are just the odds, not a pattern. A pattern would allow you to predict the actual outcome, not that most of the time the draw will be singles. Of course it would be a good bet for you to bet even ($20.00 v. $20.00) that a straight hit or a certain triple will not happen, that only has a 1 in 1000 chance of happening. You have given yourself a 99.9% chance of being right. It will be the same chance even if there was a triple the day before. Or even if you use the same numbers in the same

To strategize or not to strategize? That is the question
Forgive me for not getting this at all. If in a lottery with say 1 : 100.000.000 odds you narrow down a field of number so that by now it contains 50 possible different combinations. The odds of a win in that field are now 50 : 100.000.000 regardless of the shape and position of that field on the slip. And when you narrow it down to just one combination the odds have further reduced and stopped at precisely 1 : 100.000.000 regardless of where you started narrowing down your field and in what way
