Star Spangled lottery not a hit with players
I refuse to buy a twenty dollar ticket, that is robery.
The Raffles usually have more than 5 weeks between the start selling date and the raffle date and in that time period there are at least 10 lotto draws. Some people just prefer the one time draw with better odds and must win jackpots. Why is selling one $20 ticket robbery when selling somebody 20 $1 tickets over the same period of time isn't?
everybody knows that most of the people who play are poor and to put such a high price on

what state are you from and how do you like your lottery?
Dang, didn't get back in time to edit.
One time two of the asteroids collided and shattered each other, but the numbers on them were visible for a secind and people who had those numbers..........
J/K!
Seriusoly, I'm in Illinois and I guess the lotto is OK. Scrathcers could be a little 'looser', and I see the raffle as a farce (all state lottery raffles thus far).
My most played game is Little Lotto, which is 5 / 39. It used to be 5 / 30 and from everything I've learned at LP, I

Mega Winners In Lotto
Why can't A lottery state, Like Florida, come up with lottery Game that pays out more than 1 Grand Prize
I'm not talking about a raffle, but a lotto game, that lets say has a one time payout of 20 million dollars. Instead of just 1 prize they give out say 15- 1million dollar payouts and the other 5 milion is divided up among the lower tier winners.
The tickets would have to be numbered so everyone had an equal chance.
I ,for one, would play that game until the cows come home. As it is k

Lawsuit challenges N.C. Lottery
Yup, there's property tax, sales tax, gas tax, etc. Look at your cell phone bill and your home phone, internet or cable bill and the communications tax is very high. (never can figure out all those surcharges!) Depending on where you live, if you buy a home and you don't have any children, you still have to pay the same property tax for education as someone with 4 kids in school. That's why I think a lottery is very important to a state as long as they are really giving the money to educatio

numbers don't lie
Floyd,
I wasn't saying that either of us were deceiving people, just that your example was a little more deceptive than mine.
Whether the chances of winning the lottery are expressed as 1 in 87,855 or 0.0014%, it's the same thing.
I agree and that's why Pennsylvania will advertise that each ticket in their 4th of July Raffle has a 1 in 80 chance of winning without mentioning each winning ticket only represents 1.24% of all the tickets sold.
People seem to be more influenced by jac

N.C. Lottery Plans $1 Million Raffle
In their short lottery history, the state of NC has had one Powerball jackpot ticket sold and numerous second place powerball winners , but for some reason can not capitalize on the publicity and launch a pick 4 and a pick 5 game to boost revenues.
How hard can it be to add the pick 4 since you already have the pick 3 ?
Best they can come up with is piggybacking on the raffle bandwagon ?
that dog won't hunt.
3 stooges is right...

Lottery mega-jackpots generating less 'buzz'
At first I was going to agree that people give up and are sick of losing. It makes sense, since the odds are so high. That was actually my first thought about many players and might be valid, but not for a large percentage of people. People who play mega jackpot games obviously know there's a slim chance they'll win, but it only takes 1 ticket. I'm also sick of losing for the past 30 years, but that doesn't stop me from buying tickets for Lotto twice a week. Of course, I admit I am totally ad

$17 million in Ohio Lottery scratch prizes unclaimed
I find this thread informative because, although I haven't been buying scratch tickets lately, I will keep this in mind. It never hurts to be extra sure before tossing any ticket. I usually keep all tickets in a shoe box anyway for a while. There can always be misprints. I agree with Todd. Scratch tickets should be as easy to figure out as the raffle tickets. Your number matches or it doesn't.
One night I was tired and ready for bed, but wanted to check my Lotto tickets. I saw 3 number

Virginia Lottery adds Sunday drawings
Payouts better?
The Pick 3 and Pick 4 games have the same damn payouts for a $1 straight bet as all the other states that border Virginia (except Kentucky) as well as DC. Yawn.
Moreover, Virginia's Cash 5 payouts for 3/5 and 4/5 on a $1 play pay literally a mere pittance relative to the odds! 68-to-1 against getting 3/5 only pays 5-for-1? 1917-to-1 against getting 4/5 only pays 100-for-1? I could play a 24-way box Pick 4 for $1 and get a better chance of winning $100 than with a $1 Cash
