Why not choose the annuity?
As Stack47 mentioned above:
It doesn't necessarily means she wants it now but the annuity ties up HER MONEY for the next 29 years. Next time you speak with your financial adviser ask which they would recommend.
That's the biggest issue I have with taking the annuity if it were me. That it would tie up MY MONEY that I managed to finally win after beating astronomical odds, a once-in-a-lifetime amazing occurrence that few get to enjoy, and .... I get it drip-fed to me over decades. It's not

Is it a scam by a lottery to end the game when half of the top prize still available?
For the jackpots on scratcher games, especially on the more expensive tickets ($5 and up) definitely misleading.
At least with PB, MM, Lotto, P3/P4 etc, you've got a chance to win the jackpot prize (albeit remote) on every draw/ticket you purchase.
With scratchers, that Jackpot ticket (s) may not even be available for purchase anywhere in the state for long stretches of time, so your odds are ZERO.
It's even worse when they pull a game with lots of top prizes remaining. In that case, yo

Cash 4Life
Good to know Kap! Thanks!
I've been wondering what's up with the free tix. I haven't seen one either, and it's not like I haven't been buying online games.
So they have coupons they can use to create a free C4L ticket? What's to stop a clerk from using them to hand out a free ticket to all of their friends, and not to a guy like me who they don't know?
I would think the NY Lottery would have been smart enough to code the random ticket generator program so that it pumped out a free C4L

Designated Machine vs Alternate Machine
Machines have malfunctioned during live drawings. If they do 4 pretests, why not 24? Or 50? If they can't trust the machines there's no telling when or if it may malfunction.
How do pretests hurt players? Let me ask you this. If you saw a number hit twice in a row, would you play it a third time? Would you think to yourself this numbers on a roll, I'm going to keep it in? If it hit the 3rd time would you keep playing it? Would you go for the 4th time? Would that numbers hot streak help you wi

Wisconsin MegaBucks $$
You want to know why no one ever wins and the jackpot keeps climbing on MegaSucks or maybe NO! BUCKS! Is better.
6/6 0 $9,800,000 $0
5/6 4 $500 $2,000
4/6 400 $30 $12,000
3/6 7,821 $2 $15,642
Lots of $2 dollar wins, Only 4 $500 dollar winners....What an awful game that favors the house more then the players. Not to mention the nearly 7 million odds to win the jackpot. Where does the money go that isn't paid out to winners?

Well there goes Illinois Lucky Day Lotto...
For all those who think the lotteries make changes with the players in mind.........
Illinois Lucky Day Lotto, which was a 5/39 game, is now a 5/45 game.
5 of 5 is still a progressive jackpot, 4 of 5 now pays $200 instead of $100, and 4 of 5 pays $15 instead of $10. 2 of 5 still pays $1. Whooopee.
The old JP odds were 1: 575,757
The new ones are 1:1,221,759
(I put this ion Discussions because it's more about how lotteries operate than about Pick 5)

Massachusetts man turns 21, wins $1 million lottery
Ryan McNulty of Marshfield, Massachusetts, turned 21 and celebrated a day later by claiming a $1 million prize in the state lottery's Billion Dollar Bonanza instant game.
McNulty chose to collect in annual payments of $50,000 (before taxes) over 20 years. He told lottery officials he will use the money to buy a new car and pay some bills.
His lucky ticket was purchased at Green Harbor General Store, 40 Marginal Street in the Green Harbor section of Marshfield. The store will receive a $10,
