The Gambler was about poker, although the album cover depicted another game, Faro. The casinos took Faro out because for most of the game it was an even money bet with no house edge.
At the time Faro was popular, many gamblers were illiterate, so a banner with a tiger on it depicted the Faro game. Trying to beat the game was known as bucking the tiger , thus the tiger sign.
As far as true gamblers, many who bet sports, horses, and play poker would look at lotto as merely entertanme

Interest In Backtesting and Simulating Lottery Systems
Yep, what the data IS doing is more important than what the odds say it SHOULD do.
If a number is currently trending far below its expected hit rate, I'd like to know that and drop that number from my play selections.
If someone didn't get the code quite right and the results are skewed in some way, a fair simulation isn't going give me the same kind of results.
I don't care what the game is going to do over the next gazillion years, or a million results produced by a fake game that

A Challenge For Roulette System Players
Agree w/Coin on this one, as usually those who seek the elusive Golden Fleece are those who become fleeced themselves
I would sincerely non-cyinically like to ask. why anyone would sell a system that makes free easy money instead of just living of it, unless the selling it makes more money than playing it.?
Now then, who amongst us , including casino professionals programing gaming software analyists will kindly share their inside knowledge on how to overcome the odds for a positive R

i know of about 3 people who are or had maths education in university.

Florida Jackpot Winners
Looks like more jackpots have been hit. Wasn't there 2 Green and Gold left? Now down to 1.
Power 8's got hit 0/5
Miami Heat down to 1/3
Gold Rush doesn't have a * but I hear it's going to be reprinted and Jackpots added.
There should be some regulation, I don't understand how all those games were retired with remaining prizes and new games are still on the shelves that have 0 jackpots left, like Black and Golden Goose.
Now newer games coming out, I won't play those, The odds didn

Santa Anita Best Bet & Long Shots for 10/4
Thanks for your informative reply Eddessaknight.
I'm really just toying with the idea of going back to handicapping horses. Myself and a friend devoted a lot of energy over 2 years in the 70s to try to make money at our local harness track. We had to input the past performances at keypunches/terminals from stacks of old programs we managed to get from the PR people. To make a long story short, using multiple regression analysis of about 10 variables, we were able to compute Power Ratings for

What is a lottery system? What distinguishes a lottery system from guesses, dreams and quick picks?
Visiondude,
The lottery does follow a bell curve. Certain types of numbers are represented more than others. Over any length of time, without fail, the numbers will follow this path. Quite simply because there are more of those numbers and less of others, depending on how you want to break it down. An easy example is Sum 3 Vs Sum 13. The laws of probability would state that those numbers represented in Sum 3 would occur less often than those in Sum 13. If only because there are more numbers

fixed
The poll is somewhat loaded, given that you can only answer fixed or not fixed.(conspiracy theory is same as not fixed)
But is it possible that a very small part of the lottery could be fixed? To that I would answer yes.
That is precisely the reason they do all the pre-checks on the RNG and the bouncing balls, because of the potential for tampering/fraud. And who is the fox guarding the henhouse? The government is littered with cases of fraud and abuse, and the Lottery Commission is part o
