Couple nearly victims of lottery scam
According to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, consumers send $120 million a year to those running bogus lottery schemes.
Mrs. Gadwah said she bought a ticket several years earlier, which made it easier for her to believe she'd won. Honestly, I don't think I'm scam-proof, but I have little sympathy for these people. That statement doesn't make any sense. Even if I got something in the mail telling me I won the Florida raffle, I'd wonder how that was possible. Yes, I did buy a ticket in

Lottery Marketing
Some states market more aggressively, sure. There's no marketing more aggreesive than when a state is trying to start a lottery though.
Lately Illinois has been running a lot of radio ads for the raffle.
The billboards or ads you mentioned don't really affect my play, the only time I play more is if a jackpot is up, up, up.
Don't forget a lot of advertising for the lottery is trying to target new players, for the most part they know they've got the regular players. Trying to get th

Maryland Lottery Countdown to Millions raffle results
UPDATE;
I went to my favorite lottery store.....and they sold one of the $50,000.00 winners in the Count Down to Millions raffle, to one of the regulars. I'm so happy for her. The store has now sold two big wins in the lastmonth or so, the 1.1million multi match and now this.
I hope that the luck of the draw continues to spead around to the regular patrons, including ME!
Four4me:
the first drawing in January, I brought 4 tickets off of winning from the lottery also.
Good Luck ev

7-7-7 was a lucky day!!
Lottolaughs - I would definitely believe you!
Maybe I'll end up with egg on my face (and that would be okay) but I was only using logic. Someone claims his Dad dropped over on Tues to help him with a pool umbrella. Dad had to go to Home Depot to get something and the son asked him to pick up a raffle ticket. I guess then everyone forgot about it. (Yes, that's entirely possible.)
At least 303,000 tickets were sold because #302,978 won $500. So take 180,867 (the $1M winner) figure the

NEW POLL: Have any of you met a lottery winner?
yes, I have. TWO powerball winners in ky. The first one, won a long time ago when I was in middle school. The couple's son, who was rather ugly, was constantly asking me to marry him. (Yeah, he was nuts. ) Their life changed dramatically. The kind of change that makes you feel all good inside. I loved it. I remember seeing him driving a candy apple red corvette through town with pride all over his face, when, before, he was lucky to have money to eat at school and I felt sorry for h

High gas prices and lottery spending.
I will now only spend the same amount once the Jackpots get to a level that I like. If they are not at that level, I will not buy tickets.
I live in an area of Michigan that rarely ever sees winners. I am tired of reading stories of people in SE Mich who have won multiple times like that guy who got two 1Million dollar winning scratch offs in the same store in Dexter...Or that guy in Saginaw who won the fantasy 5 twice. Or how about that terminal in Jackson that sold Million dollar raffle

Expensive Michigan Lottery tickets sell-out quickly
Pundits who doubted the public's desire for $50 lottery tickets are silenced
Tickets to the Michigan Lottery's most expensive game sold out Wednesday after less than three days on sale.
The lottery's Super Raffle game includes 250,000 tickets sold at $50 each.
Tickets went on sale Monday. Winning tickets are scheduled to be drawn June 18.
Michigan Lottery commissioner Gary Peters said the public was responding to the game's relatively good odds, compared to other lottery games.

Would you go For Humans to draw the Balls?
I am glad they don't publish the pre-test picks on the FL web site. If they do, I am begging everyone NOT to send me the link. Konane, you must be a little more emotionally stable than I. LOL
I once saw on the TX site the 5 pre-test combinations picked. I thought the last thing in the world I'd want to see are the numbers I've played for years and years!
This is an interesting subject for me. We had this discussion about a year ago about whether or not it has an effect on the

I have a question
Thanks Todd...I was waiting for you to respond. Not sure, if the system for raffles works the same way from state to state as Ontario does. I will refer to our old Winner Take All nightly raffle game with a guaranteed winner in Ontario that ended last year.
First the lottery terminal generates the ticket selection then it is stored as an ENTRY number (not as the numbers on the ticket). Now the control number/bar code number in Ontario is actually attached to an entry number ie. 34859.

Random Generation of Quickpicks
I realize we've had many threads where we discuss quick picks vs personal numbers. This time I just want to talk about how they are chosen.
Recently another member quoted a state web site explaining that there is no central computer generating the numbers. Maybe it was for a raffle game, but suddenly this brought up some new questions.
When I check the numbers and read the press releases on the FL site, just about every day someone in Miami hit the Fantasy 5. Even when there are 5 win
