Big week ahead for N.C. lottery
The North Carolina Education Lottery gets under way this week and several major events are planned.
On Monday the first advertising will hit radio and television. The ads will be teasers to let consumers know that the lottery starts Thursday.
By Wednesday thousands of tickets will be in the hands of more than 4,000 retailers.
Then, the first ticket will be sold in North Carolina at 6 a.m. Thursday.
Pamphlets will be available at retailers explaining how to play the games and what you

Powerball lottery jackpot raised to $117 million
IIRC, before PB went to the annuity schedule that Uff Da describes the cash was still a slightly smaller percentage than what MM had. I'm guessing that plenty of people never realized that, just paying attention to the advertised annuity jackpot even if they figured on taking the cash if they won.
Since there was no winner for PB the cash value is once again higher than MM, so if PB is the game in your home state it should be an easy decision if you're going to choose one or the other. If MM

Internet Lottery Sites - How do they work
Hi Lottery Post members,
My name is Kevin and I'm new to this site and forum. I've just recently learned about the whole internet lottery thing, and I'm very interested in it but also have some questions. I don't really understand how the whole thing works. Maybe they're dumb questions but I figured you guys could help me out, because I am nervous about sending my money to some company befor I even understand how it works.
So I've looked at some of the different online companies, like B

PA cash 5 going up...
Yes it is good enough to pay for a house, (in my case) but personally I would rather have a lifetime of checks. At least you know you will always be getting them, and can't spend them all in one shot. I don't have a problem with winning $250,000, but cash_only is trying to make another invalid comparison simply to further express his discourse for something that has been beaten to death long ago, and is nothing more than age-old, tiring rhetoric.
I am assuming though that he is over 50 or 60

$270M Mega Millions lottery jackpot claimed anonymously
Each state has their own individual rules, but there's an excellent chance that you do have the right to claim any prizes as a trust. Even if the rules require that the name of the winner be released or that the winner attend a press conference you still might be able to remain anonymous. A trust is a legal entity, and therefore has some of the rights and obligations that a person does. Unless the rules prohibit it, the trust can claim the prize, and therefore the trust is the winner. The name

why play the pick 4?
What four4me said. The odds say you'll hit a Pick 4 before you ever (if ever) hit five or six.
I worked in Vegas and we had a player who played $50 five-spot Keno tickets. He had "deep enough" pockets to play that way and at our particular casino, a five spot special paid $ 1000 on a dollar ticket, so when he won, his payoff was $50,000. And he won frequently.
His approach to it was he'd been playing Keno a long time and had never hit an 8-spot but had hit plenty of five spots, so he jus

Back to Basics (Dice)
Before I listen to somebody claiming they know the right way to predict lottery numbers, they have to prove to me they can predict the next roll of the dice.
That's right. And I'd put a dollar on every dime Bill Gates has (as if I could...wouldn't be on this web site if I did) if there is anybody that can predict the next roll of the dice.
This is all I know about dice:
1. There is a 1 in 6 chance of rolling a one (for example).
2. There is a 1 in 36 chance of rolling a on

GA Merged *Digital Snapshot after 3-1-4*
There ya go, sweet em!
Back at ya!!
BTW, I'd only consider all of those straight plays to have been good singles bets to have played for the draw we just saw tonight. Some will change after 747 shook the numbers around a bit.
And the odds for Monday Midday seeing a single might have improved just a little after tonight's double (if you're looking at Georgia's Pick3 games as one continuous draw).
I'll put some new straight plays up as an additional post within GA Merged's ne

Mega Millions lottery jackpot increases to $18 million
Since the first rollover never doubles the jackpot, they clearly never sell enough tickets on the first draw to pay for the minimum prize. If typical sales for the first draw are about 13 million, it's a safe bet that sales for the next draw are at least 13 million, but they'd need to sell a total of 30 million to pay for the usual $15 million annuity. That may mean that they usually don't reach their break even point until the third draw. If they sold 20 million last time around they should
