I absolutely love the front pair- back pair option on their Pick 5. That is very creative, and something I wish we had in my state. Odds of winning 1st prize, 1in 100,000. Those are odds I can live with. Spend fifty-cents and win 25 thousand dollars? I could live with that too.

I've been watching this thread for years and I have to say that Take-5 should have been retired a long time ago. They should have come out with a new game with better prize amounts and odds. You're better off playing pick 4 with better odds. There was only 1 winner. If there was two winners, would the payout have been $5000? WTF! Save your money.

The prize-to-odds ratio is much better for the 3-ball than it is for Powerball and Mega Mlllions. 3-ball: Odds 1 in 1000, prize $500 (most states), $1 wager Mega Millions: 3 white balls + bonus ball - odds 1 in 14,5457, prize $200, $2 wager Powerball: 4 white balls - odds 1 in 36,525, prize $100, $2 wager This is why I never play Powerball or Mega Millions, with the exception of a record jackpot being drawn on a major holiday.

At least they paid the taxes and associated costs or no one could afford to win it. Still a 56k prize with 300k-1 odds is not a very generous payout. A 1.00 game in my state gets you 100k for 300,000-1 odds Mass Cash. A 2.00 play could net you 4 trucks.

Of course the odds are stacked against you. It's called the lottery. The only thing you've proved is that the game generally has better odds than a lot of other games. For example, calculate the amount of time and money spent to win the average $2 million jackpot in a 6/49 game with twice-weekly drawings. I think you'll be waiting a lot longer and spending a lot more than 2by2.

I would like to see an end to the practice of fleecing lower-tier prize winners in jackpot games like Powerball and Mega Millions. I would set the minimum prize at 25% of the odds for $1 tickets and 50% of the odds for $2 tickets.
