That is interesting news on the upcoming 2nd chance drawings. Hopefully the odds on the $500 prize for the $30 GR are better than the 100X. Although I highly doubt it, it would be great if the $30 GR had a smaller top prize (e.g., $5M) but insanely good odds on the $500 prize (like 1 in 50). We shall see...

Lots of good stuff here that I wholly agree with. The problem has been accurately identified many times over the years which is, as accurately stated here, that players are looked upon 'disdainfully' and ignorantly in terms of what the operators already know regarding their own odds...the house odds. These odds, for whatever reason, aren't supposed to be eclipsed by so called 'average players' but, there are those that figure out ways to bring the odds down to size. In my honest opinion though,

The thing I hate about Take 5 is that...You just beat 500K+ odds and because 2 others also beat the odds with you only getting $21K something..Had it been only you then you would have got something like 60K-70K...which still I feel is well below par if you compare it to many other states pick 5 which goes well over 100K...NYL just wants to take take and take and don't want to give too much away for beating that kinda of odd which is a very sad thing babeh

Sadly, I bet the Florida Lottery would screw up a $50 game by making the top prize $25M or something crazy and then make the odds at every other prize tier terrible to pay for the top prize. 100x had a lot of potential. If they were willing to make the top prize $10M or $5M, they could have used the excess funds to pay for better odds at $1M and $500.

They had to make the odds more difficult to win the top prize because they are paying for the second chance promotion. Here are the odds compared to last year's game. I highlighted the only difference in prize payouts in yellow (the difference is relatively minor for the $100 and $40 prize tiers). The odds of 1:292,201,338 or 302,575,350 do not support more than one or two jackpot winners. Ticket sales of unique combinations for each draw would have to exceed those statistical odds to guarantee multiple winners. That rarely happens if ever.

It doesn't matter if the 25 tickets have different megaball numbers or not. Covering all megaball numbers 1-25 has nothing to do with reducing the odds for the jackpot prize. They could all be the same megaball number (with the other 5 numbers different) and the reduced odds would remain the same...

Never listen to radio shows about odds and taxes and all that. My radio show was using the Powerball odds for Tuesdays mega million. I just casually laughed at them. But yes annuity is only for the jackpot.
