Hi Jan, et al-
Most games are carefully constructed to propel visitors toward disaster, most players are in freefall. Na ve, unsuspecting, they have no defense and if the games were on the straight level why would the operators employ maniplulative contermeasure tactics ???
The only reliable way to predict the future is to create it the game operators accomplish this by first offering a losing proposition (often refered to as a licesene to steal) if the negative odds doesn't do the job

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
Interesting day today. Plese forgive the length of this post.
Back in Westminster to another smokefilled Vietnamese cafe/coffee shop. If they have scratchers, they'll probably be found in a vending machine, and that's what I wanted to play today. Kinda went off the deep end. Initially bought 11 5MJP tickets, went home as I usually do, and scratched them off.
Sucked. Only 3 (20, ticket, and 50) winners out of 11 tickets. Entered the losers on second chance and was looking at the numbers an

How Much Money Do You Spend Playing the Lottery in a Week?
The fact that you nick and pick at literally everything in my posts shows how insecure you are. Ever since I joined this forum you have either directly or indirectly mocked virtually anything I post that doesn't align with your opinion of lottery mathematics. The jackpot/odds I provided were not intended to be a starting jackpot or even a real one. It was just an example for Pete's sake. If you REALLY want me to go to the trouble of writing out a PERFECT example, then sure I can do that. But the

How Much Money Do You Spend Playing the Lottery in a Week?
You're absolutely right Jimmy. I was just using a simple example.
The true expected value of any given pari-mutuel jackpot depends on the number of tickets sold. You can use either the Poisson or Binomial formula and basically just multiply the prize by the probability of only 1 winner. For example, with odds of 1 in 25,000,000 and jackpot of $25,000,000 and sales of 5,000,000 tickets, the expected value is $22,658,656 which comes out to about 91 cents (again, taxes not figured).
It is imp

432 again huh .... at least it was on your chart deb, maybe thats a good sign.. .... but when i look over the last 20 drawings ... the numbers are not intermingling together in a way that make sense or what i look at as normal (normal meaning what should be expected based on tracking, history, experience, averages, odds etc) ..just my opinion of course ..
there are 55 total pairs .. 45 pairs that are not doubles ... when i look at the last 20 drawings there are 24 pairs out of 45 pairs missin

Questions the media should really ask during jackpot fever
What questions do you think the media should ask during a jackpot fever?
We've all seen people replying to, What will you do with the money , etc....
but maybe the media should ask questions like:
Do you know the odds?
Do you know what the second prize is?
Do you know what year it is?
Do you know what planet you are on?
etc.....
Your input?

Post Your Winning Tickets Here
Congrats to all the recent winners!
As my handle suggests, I am normally a scratch off player but decided to try out Daily 4 (California Lottery's Pick 4) starting this year as I noticed the popularity of Pick 3/4 games here on LP.
Difference in CA Lottery is that all plays are a $1 and can either to Full Box, Full Straight, or Half/Half Straight-Box. Payouts are pari-mutuel where 50 cents out of every dollar are into the prize pot and distributed by shares (12.5 for Full Straight, 0.5 for
