The odds are you won't hit a major jackpot. So...
I pick 1, 3 and 6. I study the numbers, I see it as a challenge and its almost become a hobby to me. Believe it or not, I find it kind of relaxing, coming home from work, going over the numbers and trying to hit the next drawing. To me its fun.

More state lotteries adding "win for life" games
According to the North Carolina Education Lottery website, Lucky for Life will begin in our State on February 7th. I like these odds much better than Powerball or Mega Millions. Hopefully, the States won't get greedy in the near future. They double the price and worsen the odds in order to make the game more exciting . And then they wonder why PB and MM are under performing. Duh!

Mega Millions and Powerball both at/over $1 Billion. Your thoughts?
Even if you adjusted the odds like that, the chances of them both being over $1B at the same time are very close to zero. Also, with the tickets only costing $1, MM would need to sell about twice as many tickets to reach the same level, so even though it would have the same per-ticket odds, it's much more likely that there would be a winner before the jackpot reaches a billion.

Record $1.6 billion Powerball jackpot won by 3 tickets
Wow if that is true not only did she beat the odds but she had to beat the odds of getting the ticket out of those 18,000 tickets. Not only that but she got it for FREE. Now that is some LUCK! Not sure I believe that one.

What are your thoughts on a continuously escalating jackpot?
I am no longer buying PB ticket(s) from here on out..i will be buying 1 ticket only and putting the rest of my lottery budget on other games since it's quite clear how hard it is now to hit the JP with PB's new changes. If PB offered improved odds and payouts on smaller prizes it would be different but they didn't do that...they just made it harder to hit the JP and still left the crappy payouts and crappy odds on the smaller prizes...screw that i will buy 1 ticket and 1 ticket only until things

POWERBALL CREATES WORLD'S FIRST BILLION-DOLLAR JACKPOT
Not fishy at all... just astronomically, ridiculously, looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong odds! They did not sell enough tickets to cover these odds. Hence, a chance there was not a winner... and that is how it played out. No winner.

Mass Megabucks Doubler
Exactly what I was thinking SC! I made the 45 minute drive down to the Massachusetts state line during the week of Christmas and bought the max number of draws (14) for 5 lines and ended up with a doubler ticket! Still looking for a win of any type at this point, but it's still early on. I like the 1 in 14 million JP odds a lot better than the PB winning odds. Good luck with your subscription.

$450 MILLION: Powerball sales bonanza sparks early jackpot increase
Actually after October 4th 2015 (the day they changed PB to the higher odds currently in force), there were 9 drawings before someone hit it. That equates to 4 and a half weeks before it was hit so a bit more than a few weeks. Just being anal. My apologies if you're offended. Frankly speaking though, I was surprised that it hit so quickly what with the odds being so much higher.

$450 MILLION: Powerball sales bonanza sparks early jackpot increase
Oh well, Robert Uomini said playing the lottery is ridiculous when you consider the odds and as a mathematician he knew playing the lottery made no sense. He still played and he won $22 million. Isn't that the reason lotteries are so successful? Logically we all know the odds of winning are absurd. But the reality is, someone always wins eventually. As long as you don't have a gambling problem, if you can afford to spend $1 or $2 on a ticket, who's it hurting?
