unfair practices and odds
Hi ! I have been reading all the posts on the CA scratchers and have been doing some reading. I think that the practices of most retailers hinders customers from winning. Almost every place I have gone to, has a clerk or owner that watches the sales and wins and losses on the tickets. Whether its a 7-11 or a reg liquor store, there are plenty of tickets that the retailer scratched themselves , most likely finding the larger winning tickets. With the odds at winning the MM 2nd tier prize at 18.5 million to 1, you would have better luck with most state lotteries. As a comparison, the odds on PB 2nd tier prize is 5.1 million to 1.

You should have seen the clerk face when I asked for $1 Mega Millions quick pick ticket. I told him that I knew the odds, and he replied it is good that you know the odds of winning.

Common facts say in a 5 digit game, all odds or all evens rarely come up. I see trends in this game. For awhile it was more even numbers. Last 6 drawings, alot more odd numbers, 4 or 5 odds last 5 of 6.

Prior to the matrix change, 96% of all prizes was $7 or under. This game as well as PB has and always will be a suckers bet. Some put too much emphasis that their time will come. Chances are someone here on LP will win a 2nd tier prize during their lifetime but the odds of anyone here winning either PB or the MM jackpot is extremely unlikely. I hope I'm wrong but the odds are against all of us.

This is the part in the article where I noticed immediately the NEW odds of winning various prizes that are listed are incorrect. How can the Odds of matching ONLY the mega Ball be 1 in 21, if there are only15 Mega Balls to choose from?? That would be impossbile. I'm not quitting I'll just play less often and at higher jackpot levels. Not because I would not want the money but because the odds are such that if every person 18 or older bought a ticket only one person in the entire country would win (ponder them odds).

Even though the odds will be stretched to 258 million to 1, the original odds at 175 million to 1 didn't really make it any easier. I will continue to get my one ticket once the jackpot exceeds $200 million and will splurge with 2 or 3 tickets when it exceeds $500 million.

speaking of deception, i thought it was messed up that they away the BDB game..one of the main reasons i played that game was because of the ~90 1,000,000 prizes left. Then one day the game is gone, I feel like I was playing the game under false pretentions and possible flawed odds because of this...but what do I know about odds? I play scratch offs :P
