Texas: 2/1 - 2/28/2013
I think I have methods of tracking numbers that most people don't normally use. Seems a lot of people try to use mathematical formulas for the numbers when all I do is try to use old fashion common sense and observation. You first have to get to know your combinations. I consider Repeats, Alphas, 3 differrent digits vs doubles, and even a what I call Levels . Over a period of times the 10 digits spread out over usually about 6 different levels . A level is the number of draws it's been since

Texas All or Nothing
Your math is correct. Here is my thinking on playing the dogs or horses and maybe it can be applied to the lottery. I look for about 10 different things when I try to decide if a dog can win. If it meets all ten items of the criteria the odds are real good that dog will win. The better the dogs the better you can predict the winner --but they are still dogs and who knows what might distract them. So you look for those situations where you have the best chance of winni

Texas All or Nothing
Well....looks like this one was a dud lol It did collaspe the Levels and did it in a big way. Instead of just dropping 1 Level it dropped 2 and went from 7 to 5. I was considering the 305 to do that but it went 701 taking out not just 1 number 5+ but 2 digits 5+ out. This leaves the 5-2-6 five or more draws out so the Odds of it using anything that far out is less. One reason I figured the 3 or 5 would be involved is my charts showed that the last digit to be used would come from a draw that

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Thanks RJOh, It's reassuring to read rational exchanges here about the odds and applications of strategies to actual draw data, as you have done. This is the way people can ultimately arrive at the true answers to questions about these issues. While you were looking at the results of playing the first half of the field [1-28] over 798 actual draws, I wrote a little simulator to see the results of varying the subset size, starting with 28. I was testing the program using hundreds

Do some number combinations have better odds?
Ronnie316, Not sure... You're going to have to do better than that if you want to convince people that ...some number combinations have better odds. (They don't.) I've addressed the issue you raised here many times in the past. In the interest of not reinventing the wheel, here is a link to some scholarly research dealing with it, followed by a rehash of my remarks to dr san about it. I hope you won't waste any more of everyone's time trying to confuse these issues. http://www.amstat.o

Wyoming lottery bill advances to Senate floor
Updated, 8:05 pm A Senate committee has endorsed a bill that would bring the lottery to Wyoming. The Senate Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee voted 3-2 Tuesday in support of House Bill 77. The bill, which has already passed the House, goes to the Senate floor for debate. No one is quite sure about its odds of passing. The proposal allows the state to offer a state lottery or join a multi-state lottery, such as the Powerball. Proceeds would go to local cities,

The Powerplay Option
Boney526, Please double check my calculations. If they're correct, it seems to me that the $3 Powerplay is a better bet than the $2 ticket, especially if you ignore the 5+0 and 5+1 Jackpots. It's still not much consolation though. I wonder how many people would play Roulette if the payouts there were structured in proportion to these? As usual, choosing a payout value for the 5+1 is problematic. If they really do pay back 0.50, an adjustment would need to be made there. It's surprising th

How unluckly can one be??
hotshot4, Must be a whole lot of 'unlucky' players. Jimmy4164 started a thread in Mathematics about the powerplay option. In that thread he posted a link to a site where you can run tickets. I ran 2,000 and never showed more than 3 numbers hit. There's also a chart on how often you can expect to win. Read it and weep: Along with the Powerplay info this should be drilled into every player's mind, 2 tickets per week: How often, on average, you can expect to win each prize when pl
