N.Y. laundromat sells $122M Powerball lottery ticket
You never know, do you? Some lucky Powerball player just hit a $122 million jackpot at the Clothespin Laundromat in Catskill, New York. Though laundromat owner Bahasu Patel wasn't sure who won, rumors have already begun to spread around town. Somebody said the guy at the tobacco shop had won, he said, but when someone went to check they said he hadn't. Two other people Patel spoke with also thought an employee at Smoker's Choice on Central Avenue had won Saturday night's Powerball

Pick 3 Straight
Good question. You should get a lot of responses to this since everyone deals with it. I noticed you are in GA so I pulled out a Georgia database going back to August, 1993. 10546 draws should give us good numbers to work with. The database shows 120 triples (1.1%), 2823 doubles (26.7%), and 7603 unmatched/singles (72%). Good splits. I'm going to use just the unmatched/singles, that is, those draws that contain 3 unique digits like 1, 0, 3 and 4, 9, 6, or 8, 7, 4, to give you some idea of

Statistics around the balance of even/odd and small/big numbers
RL-RANDOMLOGIC, It's not really clear to me what we should notice in this small set of results. If you are seeing some pattern related to the number of ODD or EVEN numbers, or the number of unique digits, or something to do with prime numbers, it's of no relevance, other than the fact that more people (like you) might bet on certain patterns, so that when they DO HIT, there are more winners! No matter what you are trying to show, this would not be nearly enough data to draw any conclusions an

Jimmy OK, I see what you are after. I started to post a reply showing in detail how I calculate my selections and two hours later I am not even close to having it done so I am going to paste it to notepad to finish it at a later time. Knowing how you scrutinise what I write It will take much proofing before it can be posted and will still be full of mistakes. It will not be for the lighthearted and much of it cannot be done without software. I will have very litttle time

Statistics around the balance of even/odd and small/big numbers
Stack47 I meant to say The analysis of Maddog's challenge that I have seen here is a perfect example of statistics at work. It only works when the outcomes are averaged togeather and then only in some cases. Anyone who has won a jackpot of any size or wins many smaller prizes won't fit the predicted mode. I think we are on the same page on many things and each person is in my opinion very able to gauge there own success. I think that all system players make adjust- ments to th

Statistics around the balance of even/odd and small/big numbers
Stack47 I think we only need to watch the local weather or look at the markets to see how statistics perform on any given day. The weather is considered by many to be random but only because they don't have enough data to make their predictions. You would think that with all the super computing power at there disposal, that statistics would do better then +/- 3 degrees as an accepted average which is more like +/- 5 for the norm. I missed a pick-6 jackpot the other day by 2 nu

$750,000 Winner - Jingle Jumbo Bucks - 2010
I won $50 on Jingle Jumbo Bucks. It took me a month to the day, from when I first started playing, and I won on my twentieth ticket, on ticket number 018. A week later, and after purchasing 14 more tickets, I won my first jingle bell symbol, which pays $100. It fell on the first ticket in the book, number 029. The average winning ticket is $22.22, pretty close to $20, or double the cost of the ticket. The overall average payout for each ticket is $8.16, including the losing tickets, which means

Lucky and unlucky Scratch-off ticket numbers
I stick to a handful of games, but occasionally I will buy other tickets. I think a good mixture is OK, but I would get really good at a game, and play it a fair amount if you do well at it. It will be easier to win a game in my opinion, if you play it consistently. If I had to choose, I would say $5 tickets give me the best return on my money, and that is what I mainly play, along with $10 tickets. I would say that I might spend 2/3 of my money on $5 games, and most of the remainder on $10 game
