If you didn't play and your numbers came up
The odds of a combo of your numbers being drawn when you don't play are the same as they are when you do play but when you don't play quick picks, odds are your quick picks wouldn't 't have matched the winning numbers either but I'm only guessing because you can't know what your quick picks are until after you buy them.

Wasted lottery spendings.. Try this!
Nice break down as always, Stack. This is about the total money at stake, the odds, and most of all, the total opportunities available to win that money back. With PB, I'm all but guaranteed to lose my money many times over until, or, unless I get lucky. BJ is one to one and dollar for dollar where the odds of winning, or, getting your money back on the next play (hand) are very good. Same with Roulette.
Look at Craps and how many numbers are involved. Stay away from (7) and you can move lots

PowerBall finally may has the edge it's been seeking
If more players felt like you, states' pick5 games with odds of 1:~575K and ~$100K jackpots would have more players. Most states had to have MM and PB size jackpots to get players to even look at their other games with better odds and lower jackpots.

PowerBall finally may has the edge it's been seeking
Good evening, everyone! I'm really diggin' all this talk about the game changes...supposedly that is. I see where one poster mentioned how a few powerballs were removed to increase odds. Well, that's a start and is in the right direction for players. But, in order for them to REALLY increase the players' odds, they need to do this: Make it to where players can win a decent prize with less numbers matched, be it on the same line or scattered. This is the epitome of increasing winning odds, not ju

PowerBall finally may has the edge it's been seeking
Your odds are determined by the number of chances you have, not how you choose the chances. 46 tickets gives you the same odds whether you play all 46 bonus balls, 1 ticket starting with each number from 1 to 46, or any other method of choosing 46 tickets.

Going after 100m Powerball Jackpot?
I bet if your next door neighbor made that shameful trek down to QT and lucked into winning multimillionaire, you would be the first one knocking on his door to congratulate him and to ask for a loan ! It is a given that a few people will overcome the odds and win each year. Better some odds rather than NO chance!

Reasoning the Doubt
That's one of my big interests in the lottery. The odds may not be great that I'll win, but the last winner had the same odds as me and it worked out for them. I have the same chance that they did. I find the lottery entertaining...I like playing with the numbers, and for a small fee I have the ability to dream big and enjoy the thought that it really could happen. And it will.

How many people just buy one ticket for MM and PB?
It seems we are very similar in our buying habits. Like you are I am always trying for that 2nd level prize since I would be thrilled to win that (not that I wouldn't love the jackpot but the odds are so astronomical and the odds are not as astronomical to get 5 numbers but still hard). Unlike yourself I tend to do quick picks have only picked my numbers a few times, starting to think I might go back to picking my own numbers at some point because I did better those times when I picked my number

Going after 100m Powerball Jackpot?
The odds are too astronomical to make bets based on the jp size. The odds are the same regardless of its size. I don't bet or not bet based on jp size. I play the same line on all draws and also add lines on 10 draw cards, anywhere from 3-10 additional lines. $100 or so per month is my max limit regardless of jp size.

North Carolina: 5/1 - 5/31/2012
Thanks for helping us, Val! Great call on the all odds! I only played on paper tonight, but would have gotten a box hit bc I was looking for a 5 in the all odds.
