Odd thing I heard from convenience clerk
There's some disagreement around here about how much your odds improve by buying more tickets, but if you believe the clerk I'm pretty sure you'll be the only one here who thinks your odds are worse with 5 or 10 tickets than with 3.

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
The stated odds for winning the Mega Million are 1 in 175,711,536 because these odds are to cover every possible combination. But what if; there are certain combinations and patterns that come in more than others. Your odds are still the same, but you chances have improved drastictly. To view/download combos patterns found in the Mega Millions game - Go To - http://www.box.com/shared/egb8g98jzt There have been 702 drawings from 06/24/05 thru 03/13/12. I have come up with 201 groups so far, th

Odds on Misinformation
Coin Toss, The casino owners would laugh at you for suggesting such a bet. They understand that there are far more non-sequenced numbers. The bet you're suggesting is like asking that someone bet on 10 numbers for $1 and you'll bet on a 100,000 numbers for $1. Let's see now who should win most often - daa? The casinos would suggest that you pay proportional to the number of plays; $100,000 for your bet on 100,000 numbers and they pay $10 for their bet on 10 numbers. Then they only need to

The odds are almost the same for Ohio's Classic Lotto which is a pick six 1-49 game. It's odds are 1 in 13,983,816. It usually goes for months without anyone hitting it.

I hear you CT - I just was simplifying - saying out of 800,000 possible combinations total - not whatever lottery game/odds you guys were dealing with. If there are ONLY 800,000 possible combinations and you have 799,999 tickets with different combos no one can (or should) be able to say your odds haven't increased by quite a bit.

Rhode Island woman, 81, claims $336 Million Powerball jackpot
There are plenty of other lottery games with better odds and many more top winners but nobody is interested in hearing about them. It's the multi-million dollars winners that people want to read about and dream about being. Facts are many players wouldn't buy a lottery ticket if the jackpot wasn't large and odds weren't that only one player would win it.

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
So you believe that the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th lines of numbers have taken the 175,000,000 to 1 odds down to 35,000,000 to 1? Nope and I said there are FIVE 35 million to 1 chances. It means for every 35 million to 1 winning chance, there are 34,999,999 losing chances. Multiple that by five because there are four other 35 million to 1 chances and you'll have the same number of losing chances you began with. It's like in the 500,000 ticket raffle games with four chances to win $1 million

Just like in the thread where we were discussing whether Powerball sales were up or down, it comes down to how you define the terms. Mathematically, your odds most certainly do improve with each additional line purchased. It's just that those odds are so infinitesimal (roughly six ten-millionths of one percent on a single play) as to not make a difference. Realistically, you're living on a prayer no matter how many tickets you buy.

Post your scratch ticket results
I dont see very many PA posters buying $20 tickets on a consistant basis. the odds are the same as Florida pretty much. maybe thats why we dont see as many people posting big wins ?? Most winning FLA tics posted here are $20 tics. we have a lot of big $5 winners but most are $20 tics cause the odds are better
