How would you design a game so more people win?Reply
NY has all kinds of lottery games with varying jackpot sizes and different odds of winning, check their website to see which games sell the most tickets. If you are one of the players not playing those games with the better odds and smaller jackpots then you know why others are doing the same.

It's simple logic. With 10 numbers 0-9 you cover 1000 combinations of 3, with 6 numbers you cover 343 combinations of 3. The 4 numbers you didn't include cover 125 combinations so the odds of you not having any of the numbers in your combinations are 125/1000 or 1/8 and the odds of you have all three numbers in the combinations you play depends on the numbers of lines you play but will be less than 343/1000.

Isn't that how all lottery odds are calculated? If I could pick my numbers after the drawing results were known then my odds of winning would always be 1/1.

Sure a little fast money can be nice, but if the odds of winning are similar, I wouldn't even think about the low jackpot tickets. Why, when for the same odds you can play for much more.

Odds of winning 1 million was 1/140,000. What a great game. I would like to see the state do this or something like it a lot more frequently. Even though it's a higher ticket price, I like the odds better than the regular lottery drawings and the chance of winning a decent sized prize is far better. Best game yet.

Their odds of winning would only be 10:4368 if your 16 numbers included all five winning numbers other wise if it's a 5/39 game their odds of winning would be 10:575757.
