The New Mexico Lottery Authority board of directors met today and named Tom Romero as its new chief executive officer. Romero becomes the New Mexico Lottery's fourth CEO since its 1996 inception.
Romero, 48, was chosen from among 67 applicants in a statewide and nationwide search. As CEO, Romero will direct the Lottery's day-to-day management responsibilities and oversee its 62 employees. He has served as interim CEO since November and will be paid an annual base salary of $165,000 in his

Food for thought regarding anonymity....
Anonymity has always been a popular topic on this board. I've lived in several states including MA, NH and now FL and I don't think there's anyway to keep your name out of the public records, even with a Trust. Maybe I'm not recalling the NH laws correctly, since I never won enough to worry about them. But I thought that no matter how your money is claimed, the name of the trust, the lawyer and the person who owns the trust will be published. That doesn't mean that it will be printed in the new

Most Bizarre Numbers you have Seen
No...nothing like hacking the computers. It is more like a chess game. I believe that the Lotto computers are able to analyze all the numbers that have been played up to a certain time on Friday(just before they do their security walk through). The lower the amount up for winning the less opportunity you have to manipulate a misdirection ....because there are soo many combinations out there.
But I have been having a little fun the last two months. Take half the numbers. Lock those down with s

Lotto Documentary
A lot of us who are older no longer care that much about putting on airs. Uff Da!
So true. Although I've been that way most of my adult life. I've often thought there must be something wrong with me because I have no desire for lots of jewelry or fancy clothes. I get the strangest stares when I say if win the lottery, I'm going to buy a new Camry.
I do agree there are many people who buy lottery tickets who probably should spend the money on groceries. However, in this country $1 doesn

Michigan resident loses whopping $295,000 in lottery scams
Quote: Originally posted by Uff Da! on April 9, 2006Oh, that is so sad when people take such advantage of someone whose mind must have almost totally gone. Too bad it wasn't recognized just how bad her mind must have been and another family member put in charge of her financial matters.
Then again, I'm not so sure that is always a good situation, either. In my own case, I know that if I had a stroke or otherwise became mentally incapacitated, if I didn't have legal documents to indicate other

Lottery Post Mobile Edition
I've made some improvements to Lottery Post Mobile, the web site for use with mobile devices like cell phones and PDAs.
At this point I've pretty much finished all the work on the forums (the features are complete). The mobile features are as follows:
The goal of any mobile application is quick and simple access to valuable features and information, so Lottery Post Mobile focuses on only things that are simple to do, and do not require a lot of typing. Basically, everything should be acc

What would the experts do with a lottery jackpot?
Another very astute observation GameGrl. But you are right again, being I came from practically nothing, and grew up with the bare minimum, I learned quickly to value what I already did have in life and to never take anything for granted like most do. Everything I have now I earned through my own hard work, intelligence, and wisdom derived from years of hardship and simply just trying to get by. That is why you will never hear me complaining about winning a lucky for life jackpot

Wisconsin Megabucks lottery winners come forward
We have entirely viewpoint on life. In NJ, they keep the money for 30-days after you make your claim. I've won a couple of times myself, and had to wait. To me, that 30 days is plenty of time to make plans. The actual date of claiming the money has zero to do with the tax man in NJ; that is an entirely different process. The state of NJ will take the tax money the federal government requires (25% if you have an SSAN). Then they disappear. You can be indecisive for 6 minutes or 11 months an

Critics raise questions as retailers play by the rules and win scores of jackpotsNew Jersey's 10 most frequent winners of lottery jackpots have one thing in common: Luck. But five of those top 10 winners have something else going for them: A store that sells lottery tickets. We play, we win, explained Mahendra Vora, standing behind the counter of Everything Nice, a stationery store on Bergenline Avenue in West New York that he owns with his wife, Sudha.Together, the lucky couple has claimed 175
