Lotteries long for 'jackpot fever'
Because playing a game that has odds of 140 million to one for a 15 million jackpot that is watered down through cash value and taxes to about 4.5 million is hardly a good investment. If you would be happy with 100k why dont you play games that will give you a better chance at winning that than pissing your money down the toliet trying to chase down totally astronomical odds.

Tenn. Lottery introduces new raffle game
I will buy at least one ticket, don't know if I will buy more. When the Lotto 5 has a high jackpot, you can beat these odds because 10 Lotto 5 tickets = 500,000 / 10 = 50,000 to 1 odds. However, when the Lotto 5 gets high it seems like the pot keeps getting split. Oh well, can't hurt to have a hand in both games I guess.

What would you do if you won 10 Billion dollars..
With two drawings a week there are 3 and 4 days between drawings, meaning there are about 70 and 90 hours in which to buy tickets between drawings. As a practical matter there will be even less time between knowing that the jackpot has rolled over and the cutoff for buying tickets, but generating all 145 million possible combinations for PB in 90 hours would require generating 450 unique combinations every second. If each machine could print a ticket with 5 plays every second it woud take 90 ma

Lottery mega-jackpots generating less 'buzz'
It really doesn't change your chances. You aren't really playing against the other players, you are playing against the odds of winning. In Powerball, it's still something like 142 million to one that you will have a winning jackpot ticket. While its paramutuel, and sometimes there is more than one winner, that doesn't happen as often, and still doesn't change the odds of having a winning jackpot ticket.

Computer VS Gravity
Yup, it's definitely random, but the randomness and the odds are completely different things. You've only got 1 in 2 odds when flipping a coin, but that's still random. If a computer generated result for PB meant that there were only 5 million combinations that could be drawn there would only be a 1 in 5 million chance of predicting it, but the results wouldn't be random.

Tenn. Lottery introduces new raffle game
That would be correct if there was one $1 million prize, but there are four $1 million prizes so the 1 in 200,000 is correct. For your other odds calculations, that's not how the odds works. The closest thing to what you're showing is a count of how many non-winning tickets there are.

Mass. Lottery officials concerned about big revenue dip
Wow, Megamillions has the worst odds and the lowest prize/odds of any large jackpot game. Must be some rocket scientists working there. You can tell they never worked in a small business. They would have figured out the difference right away. Maybe they should check out Powerball's sales as a comparison.

Do you have a system ?
The odds of two people having the same combinations are just like the odds of matching the winning combinations - the more people with combinations, the more chances of a match. If you only have a handful of people with combinations it's very unlikely that any will be duplicated, but it's still possible that if only two people pick a single combination each, they could pick the same combination. There can never be a way to guarantee that two people won't have the same combinations, except by a

multiple powerball numbers
the same six numbers in succession
I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but whether you're asking if the same six numbers have ever repeated, or if the same six were drawn in the same order, the answer is almost certainly no. I don't know if MUSL is checking to see if it happen, but I'm sure plenty of other people are and when it does happen we can expect a lot of noise about it.
PB is about 10 years old, so let's figure there have been 1000 drawings. That would mean that each ti
