The lotto is IMPOSSIBLE to win
I think it's the same as the probability stated in the odds on the back of the betslip. It's as if you play a new betslip using the same numbers that came out last drawing. In a 6/49 Lotto game the odds of 3 numbers repeating should be 1:57.

PLaying STATE lotteries Versus PowerBall/Mega Millions ?
CASH Only said: Given the astronomical odds of hitting MM or PB, normally it makes sense to consider the in-state jackpot game, if it's available. For example, in Connecticut or New Jersey, the state jackpot game (in the case of NJ, even Jersey Cash 5) can be attractive. I agree somewhat, and this is the somewhat: When you're talking lotto, the odds are still astronomical. Think about this, people go broke playing 6 8 sytems on crap tables, and the odds against catching sixes a

PLaying STATE lotteries Versus PowerBall/Mega Millions ?
Or you could look at it likethis, for $2 you can get a Powerball ticket with the PowerPlay option(where applicable). The odds would be 1 in 3.5 million(roughly) that you would win $400,000 to $1,000,000 at the same time havng a 1 in 43 chance of a significantly larger payout. The odds of 3.5 million is quite a bit better than most state lotteries, albeit with a usually much smaller payoff.

Raffle or Not?
I agree with KY Floyd about the odds. The only reason I checked yes is because there wasn't a choice about the price, just the odds. If raffle tickets were $5, I would probably buy a ticket. I'd like to see a couple of smaller tier prizes added. (maybe $5,000 or $1,000) The overall odds of winning were much less than some games, especially the scratch tickets. It was the ad that said 10 people will have the best odds ever of becoming millionaires on January 1 that got everyone's attenti

Raffle or Not?
The odds of getting your money back are ridiculously high. Until they lower the overall odds to under 1 in 40, no, I don't think they should have any more baffles .

betting on numbers multiple times
I will play the same five white ball numbers(with the powerplay option) on powerball all the time. I believe the odds on getting the first five are like 1 in 3.500,000. In theory, it should be easier to figure out an odds reducing system for that. If you hear about someone winning the second prize multiple times in Iowa then you know the dog got his bone(so to speak).

floridas 20$ gold rush
First off I just want to say I really like this game. I've won $100 three or four times. Odds 1 in 30. The $500 winner has odds of 1:175ish. Not won $500 on this ticket yet but lets just say I'm trying lol. Best of luck to you.

Odds Don't Change When Jackpot Goes UP
Your math and your analogy are both wrong. If the younger person gets a year older then the other person also gets a year older, but if I buy another lottery ticket the number of possible combinations stays exactly the same. The second ticket cuts the odds against you in half, from 1 in n to 2 in n. A third ticket reduces your odds from 2 in n to 3 in n, and a 4th only reduces it to 4 in n. You run out of odds when you've bought n tickets. Your odds become 1 in 1 and you are guaran

What is up with MM/PB
As long as you use a reasonable definition of large jackpot we should expect plenty of them in the future with the game running just as it does now. The average size of jackpots will always be a function of the odds and the amount of each ticket that goes toward the jackpot. With odds of 175 million to one we can expect the long term results to be one winning ticket for every 175 million tickets that are sold. With 30 cents of each ticket going toward the jackpot we can expect the long term

Odds/Number Of Tickets
The odd thing about odds is it can be misleading sometimes. Odds is the ratio of probability of success to failure. I tend to work with probability of success alone, because, it's the success that wins prizes.
