why didn't i see the pattern in PB
Yeah, Powerball and Mega Millions can't have opening cash jackpots of around $7 million if they didn't have such astronomical odds. A guaranteed $7 million cash jackpot with odds of, say, 18 million to one, would put many lotteries in the red, and you can't win a bankrupt lottery.

Powerball lottery being considered in Wyoming
Considering the population this is the one state that DOESN T increase the odds. I think the only other state game should be bingo. 5-7 halls should just about cover it. The only way they can affect game odds is convincing the mosquitos to buy tickets.

Do Playing Quick Picks Ever Work??
Isn't that because 70-75% of all tickets purchased are Quick Picks? Percentage wise both methods are equal. When you pick your own numbers you can improve your odds of winning a prize by wheeling. Actually when you back out all the duplicate combinations people play based on play slip patterns the odds of winning with your own numbers if unique are slightly better then say racoons living in the sewer winning on a Quick Pick that fell through the grate. 13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
@Todd:
My appologies to you and all other Lottery Post members for my very poor choice of the the word we. That was a major gaff on my part as it clearly implied I was speaking for other people including the staff at Lottery Post...which I am not. I am speaking strictly for myself. I absolutely believe that there are other members here who share my point of view. (But perhaps not because no one else has joined in this opportunity to speak directly to one of the Powers that be. ) Regar

13 State Employees to Share $224 Million Powerball Lottery Jackpot
The powerball results for 2005 are a phenomenon in the same sense that the sun coming up in the morning is a phenomenon. The only thing special about a bunch of lottery officials getting their panties in a twist is that it gives us some insight into how they think (or don't think). As near as I can tell what we learned was that they don't understand the probability that their game is based on, and/or that their interest in what gets paid out is strictly a function of their interest in what comes

match 5 powerball won twice same person?
The odds of two players getting the same quick pick should be the same as the odds of winning the jackpot - 1 in 146.1 million (1 in 175.7 million for Mega Millions). Does anyone know if the two players who split a $35 million MM jackpot back in November both had quick picks?

why play the pick 4?
i agree emily,since march 2004 when the tennessee lottery started i've made over 15,000 dollars on cash 3 and cash 4.i have bought my kids clothes,paid rent,bought dvd recorder,helped on buying new vehicle,etc. what has powerball given me????? a winning ticket worth 400 dollars once and the rest were 3 dollar winners.i know where my bread is buttered.i'll stick with the pick 3 and pick 4.odds in the millions no thank you.odds barely in the thousands sounds a lot more sensible..........

one huge nationwide jackpot game
I voted yes, even though the odds would be a google to one, but I figure after any odds over a million to one, it dosen't matter. If It's my turn, I'll hit it. LOL

Most corrupt US lottery
I won't boycott anything that has 'better odds' of making me richer than the higher odds games do. I will take $3,000 a month for life over 1,000 powerball losses any day. Also we are a small group among a vast majority of whim gamblers, and I doubt we would even make a dent. I also will not boycott ANYTHING that gives me a chance to be much better off, and have more money than I have now.
