Re: the offered to quit playing lottery thread
There's a poll about if you were offered $1,000,000 to quit playing the lottery, would you? Made me think of this story, true story, on a smaller scale: One of the casinos I worled in had football contests every week, for $5 pick 14 out of 14 and win $25,000, for $10, $50,000. One of the security guards played a $5 ticket, and has all 13 right on Sunday. So now, if he hwas the right team on Monday night, he wins $25,000 - if he has the wrong team, he gets nothing. What pro gambler

N.Y. store clerk busted in Lotto scam
I think I was misunderstood, because you sound very defensive Gamegrl. I was only asking if these terminals were available for those who want to purchase lottery tickets (I thought I've read that there are such machines) or scan them. As far as self-serve anything, they are usually a choice from an ATM to a check-out line to choosing drive-thru or going into the restaurant. If a restaurant offers pickup/drive-thru service, that doesn't mean people who don't own a vehicle or are unable to drive

Lottery draw witnesses
Interesting. I searched a long while on the NY webpage and couldn't find any indication of where the draws are held, except possibly they might be held in whatchallit, Schenectady, maybe. New Mexico evidently holds draws in Albuquerque, maybe at lottery HQ, or maybe at some TV station. I got the idea Michigan holds the drawings somewhere in Lansing. Illinois apparently does it in a television station in Chicago. Colorado hints the drawings are held in Pueblo. Arizona, no indicat

Personal Problem.. Advice requested
Would turning this over to BBB do any good? What would you do? It's never a waste of time filing a complaint, but I don't have much faith in the BBB. It's a self-regulated organization that accepts dues from the very people we complain about, and often the complaints do nothing to resolve the consumer's problems. From what I understand, almost every used car dealer is a member of its local BBB. As others have said, try writing to newspapers, tv stations and other consumer advocate group

illegal immigrants poll
Back to the issue at hand. ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS NOT A VICTIMLESS CRIME Apologists for illegal immigration like to paint it as a victimless crime. But in fact, illegal immigration causes substantial harm to American citizens and legal immigrants, particularly those in the most vulnerable sectors of our population--the poor, minorities, and children. Illegal immigration causes an enormous drain on public funds. The seminal study of the costs of immigration by the National Academy of Sci

What would the experts do with a lottery jackpot?
KY Floyd said: If you continued to get by on less than 100k when you could easily afford to spend 2,3 or 5 times that much, I'd be very impressed and I'd wonder why you bother throwing your money away on lottery tickets. I, too, believe I could get by on an average of $50,000 adjusted for inflation for my personal expenses if I were able to remain where I am. That's far more than I'm living on now and I live in a very nice waterfront home. However, I recognize that a big win itself
