Gap analysis more than skips, cold & hot
JKING also, don't forget in your example of gaps: 8, 5, 1, 5, and 1 hit,3 hit, 1 hit, 0 hit. There is a pattern here; where I play the evens go with evans the odds with the odds. So, it would have been something like 8-5 And 1-3 6-5 1-1 or 1-5 This often pays off for me.

Circle of Opportunity
I don't know which pick5 game you're playing, but I play the Ohio Rolling Cash5 and the odds of having 2 of the winning numbers in one line is 1:10 no matter how you pick your numbers because you're dealing with a pool of 39 numbers. If you wanted similar odds of 3 numbers being in one line, you would have to reduce the pool size to 18 numbers or less and that's a lot of numbers to eliminate without eliminating one of the winning numbers.RJOh

Lottery
lchono, if you have that system, how about I invest 1.3 million per draw every time jackpot is over 80 million? Then your share of $450 will still give you 28 thousand in prize. In fact, I will feel very luck if I can find a system that double or triple the odds. The one I am using now can only increase the odds by 25%.

Lottery
I think you can win both ways, but it is mainly a game of pure luck and chance.I don't think the states that have the lottery will ever let any one system work, long enough to win very much, but that is just my opinion I could be wrong. The only way you could be sure to win would be to buy up all the odds on lets say the PB or MM which would be in the millions, but I still love to play and still try to beat the odds.

mega millions poll
CA SL+ odds are only 41m:1. Also, the jackpot is $44m for this Wednesday....hardly starting level. The sparkling-new MM will be over 4 times tougher for the average Californian to win. The MM population to odds ratio remains the same with California added...the jackpot will be won just as often, but at a higher average amount.

40% is not enough!
Rick:Yep, it is a fact. And reducing the odds by half when those odds are a million to one wouldn't help an awfully lot in any case. Still, I like the 5 plus ones. Matter of personal tastes, thinks I.Jack

The Pick 3 Bar Number Ripper?
WinSumI don't have it, but if you just need statistics on some filter patterns such as all odd, all even, high and low and a few others P34 lotto can do that, it does not give you a list of all odds or evens that have ever come out for a state, but I don't see the use of that, but if needed you can import lines or numbers into it and then filter everything out from then but a particular filter pattern such as all odds or evens or whatever else.Good luck. With your knowledge of Exel maybe you can

How much do you play per drawing?
Different games require different betting styles. A jackpot game with huge odds and a payoff close to covering those odds may be worth a $1 bet.A pick 3 game might be worth more bets per game because it's easier to win something. No vote from me because it's like comparing apples to oranges.

The next powerball winner
That is not true. With odds of 120,526,770:1, the odds favor a single winner even with expected sales of $60 million. Remember Whittaker was the sole winner of a $315 million jackpot when over 132 million tickets were sold for that drawing.

Where does the starting jackpot come from
It's just some reasonable number based on forcasted initial sales and the odds of hitting the jackpot. Normally, the cash option value of the starting jackpot is higher than the actual amount in the prize pool for the jackpot for sales at that level. They only start it at $10 million because odds are nobody will hit it. Then they need apply only the minimum rollovers until sales can justify going beyond that.
