"Scratching a state's itch" fun editorial
Quote: Originally posted by DoctorEw220 on March 29, 2005scroll down. NY may pull out of mega millions.Interesting. I hope NY does pull out. The odds are seriously ridiculous, and I won't be alive if/when my numbers come up in 1,000 years lol.People really got lost somewhere and forgot how hard the odds are at their own state lottery or even pick 5 games (although they are the best to play out of all).

Powerball changing, will you still play?
I'll play if the odds change. I mightn't play if they take away the 5 match bonus mentioned in the previous post. I don't believe odds have much to do with anything, but the Red Ball is a lot trickier, maybe impossible to predict. I'd be gratified with the 100K prize, which I believe can be done a lot more easily.Jack

Streak of jackpot winners is bad luck for Powerball lottery sales
Quote: Originally posted by tg636 on March 16, 2005If that's the case, then it really is luck, so it doesn't follow that they must increase the odds Lucky for who? The States didn't create the lotteries for J.Q. Public to get lucky, when J.Q.P. is getting luckier than the States, it time to change odds.RJOh

Streak of jackpot winners is bad luck for Powerball lottery sales
The article seems to be saying that ticket sales are down 20%, but at the same time there have been more winners than usual. If that's the case, then it really is luck, so it doesn't follow that they must increase the odds when the amount of winners are against the odds as it is.

Texas Lottery Approves Mega Millions Changes
I for one will continue to play. I play $3.00 per draw and will continue - regardless of the odds. My chances of winning may be mathematically better at 135 million to 1, but in reality if it's meant for me to win, I'll win even if the odds are 1 billion to 1....

Mega Millions Matrix Change Coming Soon

The odds would be then 175.7 million to 1. TLC Proposing To Change Mega Millions - Odds 175.7 Million-to-One (5/56 1/46) ... Comment Form Coming

Mega Millions after CA joins
I'd like to see the game and odds go unchanged for a year after California joins and then assess the situation. Then they would have proof that the jackpot was hit time after time between $10-40 million. Currently the odds are 135 million to 1. That means that even if they sold 100 million tickets a drawing there would be 35 million unplayed numbers, and if any one of them come up, no winner. I can't see that it's so dire it needs to be changed.

Someone hit mega - needs a fix
Quote: Originally posted by tg636 on March 8, 2005I personally find the odds of 135 million to 1 sufficiently brutal, and might decide it's just too brutal to get a ticket unless the jackpot is over $200 million.I'm not playing MM anymore. I realized just how brutal the 135 million to 1 odds are. I say F_ck that!
