The Florida Millionaire Raffle is back!
Not so much can I afford it but rather due to the low odds? (at least in terms of 'lottery land' odds they're low) Years ago while I was buying some Pennsylvania Millionaire Raffle tickets, the woman behind the counter said to me - Well! Aren't you the smart one! She then said At least people have a decent shot at actually winning this. I realized that she was a 'Focal Point'. She saw how many people bought tickets for the big games, but she didn't see many of them bring back a winning tick

UK man crashes prize car a day after winning it in a lottery
Seems to be some confusion about how a used car could be a lottery prize so thanks for showing that the used car was the prize and people bought tickets trying to win that prize. But I'll never entering their car into a classic car show their car is really a used car. Car raffles are a popular way to raise money for schools, charities, and other nonprofit organizations that need funds. People are usually willing to buy a raffle ticket for an expensive item such as a car, especially if the pr

New Michigan Raffle
Just looked at the Michigan website and saw there is a new raffle. 100,000 tix @ $10 with 5 top prizes of $100k and overall odds of 1:18. However, the raffle is only for people with online accounts! I guess Michigan wanted a way to celebrate problem gambling month?

Watch Out!! The Hidden Danger in PA's Millionaire Raffle
Todd, you're correct, the PA Raffle is an awesome no-brainer. I should have added something to my initial post, and that's that I never pass up the chance to buy Millionaire Raffle tickets. I have some now, and I'm probably going to buy a few more. While I might find myself in the situations that I described, that wont deter me from buying tickets for this raffle. Also, it's true that odds of it happening to someone are very small, but it's definitely going to happen to some players who b

Idaho 4th of july raffle
Todd's post makes sense to me, and I'd add to his point that $100,000 top prize probably does not generate much player excitement. Of course I take it if I won, but most raffles around the country that I've seen and played are for a top prize of a million dollars. Why a puny $100,000? Give players something to really get excited about. And in those other states, whether or not tickets sold out, the raffle was held on the date advertised. Idaho does a million dollar raffle on New Years day, wh

Pennsylvania Millionaire Raffle - XXIV
Pennsylvania really does have a good thing going by holding these raffles, given the scarcity of them around the country. Florida runs a raffle very similar to PA's, but they do it just once per year at New Years. You just don't see or hear about raffles too much. (If there ever was a place where you'd learn of raffles elsewhere, it'd be here at The Lottery Post, but there isn't much chatter gong on here with regard to raffles in other states.) While it is true that PA did find out last year tha

Discovery - New PA Raffle Game Change
I just noticed a small change to the new PA Raffle game that just started Aug 25th and ends on Oct 31st. The cut off time to buy tickets used to be 5 pm on the day of the drawing ... just noticed it is now 8 pm. The top eight prizes were drawn on live TV at 7 pm ... so that has changed, tickets will still be on sale till 8 pm. I've never check my numbers anyway till the next day but that's an interesting change ... good for some last minute ticket sales I guess. From the article below:

PA Raffle Countdown to 500,000 ...
Sold around 34K yesterday, which is impressive compared to past year peaks. Yep, today will be the critical day. If raffle sales again exceed 30K, PA Lottery will easily sell out in time. I did my part, and bought one very early in the day. But if there are still more than 50K tickets remaining going into the 2nd, it will be a nail-biter for lottery officials - not from an economic standpoint, but rather in regards to pride / marketing ... PA Lottery widely touts the raffle always selling out

Pennsylvania Lottery's raffle makes 4 millionaires
Yes, dpoly1, I understand that route of thinking. I thought that way about our Illinois' twice a year raffles. Quickly, I decided that since this raffle is ONLY twice a year, I'd buy ONE $20 raffle ticket for each of the two raffles. Maybe our fellow member, sirbrad, did the same and that is how he won one of PA's fourth raffle prizes. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a lump-sum $3M gross dollar raffle in each state twice each year?
