To INCREASE sales REDUCE the PB Matrix
Quote: Originally posted by RJOh on March 6, 2005Greg,Most states already have a 6/49 game with odds of 1:14M of winning, they add PowerBall or MegaMillions to attract extra players who are interested in larger jackpots. If PowerBall and MegaMillions become easier to win, their jackpots will be smaller and they will no longer attract those extra players.RJOh Most states that have Powerball are not large enough to have their own rolling jackpot games though, so it wouldn't be that much of a con

Mega Billions
Quote: Originally posted by DoctorEw220 on March 7, 2005i think it could work, but maybe if it were something along the lines of 5/99+1/70. the odds would be really hard, but it wuld mean huge jackpot runs. The odds of matching all six numbers would then be 1 in 5,006,620,080!

To INCREASE sales REDUCE the PB Matrix
Sure Powerball should decrease their odds while megamillions should increase it's odds. That way all the whinners would finally have a chance to see what things like sales and high jackpots are important to lotteries. As it is Powerball would be the game to play if I played in the 10-20 million jackpot range since that's where it seems to be staying. Anyways the nearest Powerball state to me is Oregon and they have a 9% state income tax.

ahh craps
I agree, but the best bet in the house the the odds bet, not the pass line! (And not just putting money on a number.) Always put the maximum amount on the odds bet.

Someone hit mega - needs a fix
well ok 2.6 million doesn't quite equal 2.59896 million.Quinto breaks past the 2.6 million mark almost every year since 2000 or so.For games with odds like powerball/mega not to even break their odds is not a good sign.

powerball matrix
Powerball is really in the dumps right now. People really excited about the low jackpots should skip multi-state games and just play state lottery games since in the case of powerball the jackpot would be higher and the odds MUCH better than powerball.I would hope they could push the odds to around 180 million to one soon. Otherwise their sales will really tank as an improved Megamillions goes on line.

GA 2/28 Midday STACK
Quote: Originally posted by peach3 $treet on February 28, 2005Would you be betting on the even sums after 4 odds in a row?I used to do that, but try not to chase those type of things any more. If you look back (combined database) you will see that the last 4 times there were 4 odds in a row, 2 times another odd came in and 2 times it switched to even!! So, it is still 50/50.

NEW Hot Lotto - Now Not The Same as PB
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on February 17, 2005 Chance of 0+HB alone in a 6/51 game is 6/45, or 1: 7.5.Well when you calculate odds, you also have to factor in the chance that you'll win in another category. Look at Powerball, you would think the odds of matching just the Powerball is 1 in 42. But it's higher than that because you also have the chance of matching more.

Californians react to Mega Millions decision
Also, don't forget that when CA joins, 1 in 135 million is not going to be the odds...when the 500 lb. gorilla joins, you know there is going to have to be a matrix change in the mix. I'm figuring odds more in the line of 1 in 200+ million. (Though looking at some of the various states' MM playslips, I don't know how they can fit many more numbers on them without a major redesign.)
