computerized drawings set to take over the lottery in a few years?
There seems to be a trend towards moving to computerized (Random Number Generator - RNG) drawings. For one thing, state lotteries say that they are cost effective . They are easier and cheaper to maintain in the long run and maybe even cheaper to buy to begin with. I'm not crazy about the idea to begin with, mistakes can be made, like the one with the Tenn. Tenn. Lottery players complaining over switch from numbered balls
The lottery (Tennessee Lottery) claims computerized drawings are exciting , although player polls suggest that any excitement from lottery drawings comes as the result of seeing real lottery balls being mixed in a spinning drum and drawn one at a time both of which are missing from computerized drawings.
Because of the Ohio Lottery, state representatives and state senators had an additional $646 million to put into the state's educational fund in 2006. I seriously doubt they would risk

Lottery Winner's Lucky Day Turns into One Heck of a Mess
The lure of quick cash from someone else's winning lottery ticket now has three women facing some serious charges, after their alleged plan proved to be very unlucky.
Imagine you just found out you won $25,000 in the lottery. You get a receipt but in your haste, you actually leave the ticket at the store. And when you got back, it is gone. Well, that is just what happened to a 24-year-old Tina-Marie Ware from Rensselaer. She kept looking and looking and finally, needed the State Police to

Mega Winners In Lotto
Walk a mile in my shoes justxploring.
How do you know I haven't, Lacie? For all you know I am very ill and living on disability. I just said I disagreed with you because of FACTS. The average home in FL was selling for more than $350,000 over the past several years (much more in areas like Naples, Sarasota and Miami) and the population soared. These were not poor people who were buying second homes for that price. You must have heard of The Villages. It's one of the largest retirement c

Lottery dream shattered for N.C. couple
Randolph and Sandra Whitehead planned to get out of their small house, buy a car they could depend on and pay their bills. After all, they had just won $250,000 in the North Carolina lottery.
But those dreams came crashing down when their road to riches took a sudden U-turn.
On May 1, Randolph Whitehead bought a scratch-off ticket at the Rocky Mount BP station on Centura Highway. They had the surprise of their lives.
Me and her looked at it together, Randolph said. I put on my glasse

First 2 winners of $1 million lottery prizes come forward
Burt Isabell had this reaction Tuesday when he learned he'd won $1 million in the Tennessee Lottery: I just started hollering, 'You're looking at a millionaire!'
No one half-believed me, he said. Then I showed 'em the ticket and of course they asked to borrow some money.
Isabell, of Sylacauga, Ala., and David Smith of the Old Hickory section of Nashville were the first of four winners to come forward to claim their $1 million in the state's first Million $ Madness game. The other t

Store owner's lottery bonus put on hold
The store owner who sold the unclaimed $3.5 million Connecticut Classic Lotto ticket in February will not be receiving his $10,000 sales commission unless he settles outstanding accounts with the state lottery, according to a spokeswoman for the lottery.
Zee Zahid, proprietor of Coventry Getty Mart, was to receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket on Feb. 14, 2006.
But the expected windfall became more hassle than help for Zahid.
No, I didn't get the $10,000, and they gave
