Powerball jackpot hits $1 billion after building for months
Is $50 to much to spend or u go by ur heart? It's not too much if you save the money from all the drawings offering less than $1 billion and spend it on the first drawing for $1 billion or more. What happens if it rolls, though? PB only reached $1 billion once this year up until now. The first time there were 4 drawings for $1 billion or more. So far this run has been slower to get the big increases, and based on the most recent worksheet there's a 56% chance it will roll 3 more times*, so

Is the Annuity payout safe?
For the most part I think the annuity is a safe option. More so with the Multi State Games. The safety of the annuity may be argued in terms of the payout duration. Are we certain of living for the next 29 years to collect all the payments? No one knows for certain. Will the tax environment change so much and affect the future payments negatively? Who knows. Is there a possibility of any country ending up like Ukraine? If yes, would I want the government to be holding my money or

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
https://lite.cnn.com/2025/12/13/business/powerball-billion-dollar-jackpot-mega-millions Sounds to me like the author doesn't know much about how lotteries work or appreciate that the results of just 3 or 4 jackpot runs may not be representative. The headline screams that he's missing the clue that even if PB sales were up (they're not) due to MM's price increase it's still probability that results in billion jackpots. The average PB jackpot should have a cash value of about $195 million

Annuity or Cash Value
Am always torn between Cash and Annuity. But I think should I win, I would opt for the Cash Option. At a moderate 7% annual return, and a modest draw down, the money would grow past the annuity by year 10 to 15. It's true that a lot can change in 30 years, from tax laws to stability.

Michigan man claims record $32.9 million Lotto 47 jackpot with numbers he's used for 20 years
What are you saying? He took the lump sum not the annuity. Having recently claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters in Lansing, he chose to receive his winnings as a one-time lump sum payment of about $22.8 million rather than take annuity payments for the full amount. Congrats to the big winner!!

$1.7 BILLION: Will Powerball create a Christmas billionaire?
PB will claim they set a new record if the annuity is more than the current $2.04 billion record, but to beat the $997.6 million cash value of that jackpot the annuity needs to be 2.17B, assuming the interest rate doesn't change. The PB worksheet posted on Monday afternoon suggests that a rollover on Wednesday will give us a Saturday jackpot of about $2.11 billion, but I'm not sure the people behind that estimate really have a better idea than anyone else. They came up over $60 million short on

Powerball jackpot hits $1 billion after building for months
On a down note ..... I see where the cash value has gone down .. the annuity is still a billion. If I choose the cash option I'll net under 25% of the annuity after taxes. Still a lot of $$$$ tho'. Hmmm maybe I'll just buy 2 tickets instead of the 5 or 6 I was thinking of purchasing. Have a shaggy day!!!! ShagE3

my idea for a multi-state lottery
1) Choose 6 numbers from 1 to 68. 2) Tickets cost $1. 3) Match all 6 to win the jackpot, which starts at $25 million. 4) 10 cents of each ticket gets added to the jackpot. 5) Match 5 of 6 to win the 2nd prize of $100,000. 6) Buy 5, get one free. For $5, you get 6 lines, which is either 6 QP or your playslip of 5 sets of 6 numbers plus one QP. 7) Both prizes are all cash (subject to taxes, of course, we can't get around that). No annuity BS. If you win $25 million and want

Millionaire for Life multi-state lottery game to replace Cash4Life and Lucky for Life in February
Well there is quite a range of opinions on mil 4 life here in this forum. First off thanks Kate for the info! I'm a lucky 4 life player but, I only play on mon and or thur when the pb and or mm is less than 250 mil (tho' I m thinking of raising the threshold to 300 or 350 mil). I'm sorta a traditionalist on the Monday and Thursday thing as the original drawings were held on these two days Now that the price has increased I will change one criteria .... that is I'll definitely o

I know that this is technically not a lottery question, it's about PCH Sweepstakes bankruptcy .
Thank you for that indepth detailed link to the PCH Annuity Sweepstakes Bankruptcy. :) I was mistaken when I said he was supposed to get millions until his death, turns out he was getting $260,000 a year before taxes. That's still a very nice chunk of change to live off. There are people who work for 10 years and accumulate around $260,000 minus taxes and he was getting that every year for 10 years and not having to work. He shouldn't have blown his money frivolously.
