The lottery scans big winners against a list of people who owe child support, back taxes, hospital bills and student loans. So as you dream about spending the piles of money you plan to win in the lottery, don't forget those bills you never paid.

N.C. Lottery grows despite recession
The North Carolina Education Lottery hit the jackpot with its budget this year, significantly increasing funding for salaries and benefits despite uncertain economic times that have stalled similar line items at many private-sector firms and government agencies.
The lottery's new budget, which was approved by the Lottery Commission in mid-June, calls for $17.7 million in salaries, wages and benefits in the coming fiscal year, almost 14 percent higher than what lottery officials spent in the l

If you have a mind that appeals to the legal side of things you should read Lee Strobel's book.
I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Strobel earlier this year. This man has his Master's Degree in Law from Yale and was an award-winning editor for the Chicago Tribune for investigative journalism.
He was also an athiest.
He came to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior by doing what I did........he searched it out for himself.

Arkansas Powerball lottery winner in no rush to claim jackpot
Work might not be the top priority for someone who's just won the lottery, but financial experts say deciding what to do with a multimillion-dollar prize is a job in itself.
The holder of the winning ticket in Powerball's Jan. 2 jackpot drawing, a ticket sold at a Mayflower convenience store, still had not claimed the $25 million prize Tuesday, a delay Arkansas' lottery director says is understandable considering the big decisions to be made.
Put yourself in the Powerball winner's shoes,

Stringing along Jamaican lottery scammers
It's a little suspicious when the address linked to a call notifying someone they won the Maryland Lottery is in Michigan. Or Ohio.
And Richard Drexel, who has worked in security for part of his career, is no fool. As soon as the call came in for his son, also Richard, the elder Drexel called the Maryland Lottery. No, in fact, they don't call you to notify you you've won they have other means.
And they certainly don't ask you to pony up $150 to pay for fees and taxes before you can collect
