I am a lottery retailer in TN, and we didn't have 24-hour on-call security people until after the first few cases of stolen tickets. It may make for bad PR, but it really isn't worth the expense of staffing the phones 24-365 for the limited chance of stolen tickets being validated. Reason for NM Lottery Authority secrecy
Well we may have a democacy here, but Money does some very strange things to people! I can understand what the NM lottery is doing and I can also see where the location of the winning ticket being sold does no harm! Heck as we have said the lottery knows every detail of that ticket! So there really is no need for so much security! Like I said before, if the winning ticket location was to be released to the public I see no security threat! But that's just my opinion.
