Odds
The odds are 1,000,000:1 on each individual ticket. The odds stated on the back of the lottery tickets are the number of combinations. If you buy two tickets you have 2 chances in 1 million to win. You don't have 1 chance in 500,000. Because buying the extra ticket doesn't change the possible combinations. Who agrees or disagrees with me?

odds are odds....regardless of coincidences
I'm glad you see it that way now, because your original statement was: If the odds of picking the winning set of numbers is 1 in 1,000,000, then buying two tickets for a game with those odds DOES NOT give you 2 in 1,000,000. You did not say anything about DOUBLING your chances.-Todd

Not quite, since there is nothing stopping you from having all, or some, of the same numbers on both tickets. If you use the quick pick feature, and buy two tickets, it is possible to have the same number on each ticket so the odds are the same for each set of numbers. The only way to always cut the odds in half would be to lower the number of choices in the number pool.

Will, you're wrong. If you were talking about two seperate drawings, you'd be right, BUT in the same drawing your odds are (number of tickets purchased) / (total number of combinations), so instead of 1/135mil you'll have 2/135mil, and since the total # of combinations is a constant, therefore when your numerator increases, the sum(your odds) increases.

the "system"
youre right and youre wrong. i will admit i feel some people are not capable of duplicating things i have done. however i think some people can achieve it too with heavy thinking that is so deep that you 10 times double guess yourself and have to analyze 100 things at once. it has to do with searching the soul somewhat and finding a way to link reality and the real world. and some people can not do that to the extreme i have. youre right a lof of people are desperate in here but they are looking

I should have posted these numbers for you guys....sorry
If you can pick eleven numbers which has all 5 numbers, your odds of matching a least 3 is better than 1:3 as there are only 462 combinations of five and if those eleven number includes the bonus number there are 5082 possible combinations. With those kinds of odds a third of any amount of combinations you pick are likely to be a winner. Good luck to you.RJOh

5 days until Powerball comes to Pennsylvania
The point of a state lottery is to have jackpots in the $5 million range. The point of multi-state lotteries is to have huge jackpots. You simply cannot have huge jackpots with good odds and an enormous player base. The point is, if you are happy winning $5 million and you want decent odds, then play your state lotto game.-Todd
