I won 2,000,000.00 Euros
I get a lot of Nigerian offers in Email asking me to collect my portion or fee for putting funds in my name, and giving the person their share. I know that's a scam, but this one caught my eye. It has an agent's name to contact, phone number, fax number, address, ref# and batch #s that I deleted out, just in case this is for real, and they didn't ask for info on my bank account. But a red flag went up when I thought that if I really won, wouldn't I get a certified letter in the mail? Who kno

Lottery-check scams get more seductive, ingenious
By Paul Wenske Kansas City Star Those lousy lottery-check scams are mutating again and ensnaring more unsuspecting consumers. But first, folks, you just shouldn't fall for these goofy scams. No honest lottery in the world gives out free money. That said, the scams are increasing. And they offer sneaky new twists to create a false sense of security. More scams are using counterfeit checks drawn on legitimate bank accounts of real businesses. Reader Mary Kay Culp of Lenexa alerted me

A 'risk-free' lottery
Really cool idea. Beats Social Security all to pieces in too many ways to count. J Q A: Are Premium Bonds worth it? Sales of Premium Bonds continue apace. So are they really Britain's best kept secret , as National Savings likes to describe them? What are premium bonds? Premium Bonds were introduced in 1956, when the government tried to encourage ordinary wage earners to save by running a 'risk-free' lottery. Now 23 million people in the UK own at least on

How an LP major jackpot winner could help lottery players
Here's the Board of Directors for GTech. I'll confess they don't appear to be all that sinister. Dewey was Managing Director of Donaldson, Lufkin Jenrette Securities Corporation from 1983 through 1995, and as a member of its Board of Directors, and the name Jenrette has the ring of a US Senator or Representative involved in some scandal decades ago, but there mightn't be a connection, probably doesn't mean anything. No mention anywhere of any of these folks being on the MUSL board. A

Pennsylvania jury clears defendant of lottery deception
Jury sends resounding message to overzealous prosecutors A Pennsylvania man didn't strike it rich with a phony Powerball ticket, but he won a victory yesterday when a Dauphin County jury decided he didn't do anything wrong. After deliberating a little more than an hour, the jury acquitted Brian Scott Miller, 34, of unsworn falsification to authorities. The charge was lodged after agents of the state attorney general's office said Miller signed a form saying he bought the ticket, then

Winning a lottery jackpot can't guarantee happiness
Sudden wealth is good for most lottery winners, but not all For some people, winning the big jackpot can turn out to be a big mistake. William Bud Post III called it the lottery of death. The Pennsylvania man, who died in January at 66, hit a $16.2 million lottery jackpot in 1988. After that, his sixth wife left him, a woman sued for a third of the winnings, he failed at business ventures with siblings, and spent time in jail for firing a gun over a bill collector's head. His bro

Just 49 years old, Donovan suffered a fatal heart attack while traveling in Hyannis on Tuesday, according toKate Donovan, his ex-wife. The couple had been divorced sin
