The ONLY real answer to the Pick 3
First, let me explain something. We know that any ,one, number has odds of 1000:1. This is the case whether the number is a single, double, or triple. This all has to do with Probability Theory. A specific double would have the same odds as a specific single. This should tell you something. It means that you don't want to stick with playing just one number. You want to play more numbers to better your odds. This falls right in line with the fact that the more numbers you play the better your ch

How many tickets do you normally buy for either JP?
Whoa folks....let's not get another thread locked or deleted! You are both right, but you are speaking different languages. Revisit odds versus probability: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odds#Gambling_odds_versus_probabilities Probability is: ( chances for ) / ( total chances ) Odds is: ( chances for ) : ( chances against ) Two different ways of expressing the same situation, and can be converted to one another. Probability is x in y or x/y Odds is x to y or x:y The main

Can math and logic improve chances of winning a jackpot?
The odds are posted on the Texas Lottery website and only you know why it was necessary to calculate and show them here. You really don't want to understand. If there really are two jackpots, There are, stop nagging. From the lottery's point of view, they know only one three digit number will be drawn and there are 990 other unplayed numbers by the player believing they improved their odds to 100 to 1. The odds stay the same, I suggest that you stop drinking alcohol. The amount of

Do some number combinations have better odds?
I understand that you're using the term beat the odds figuratively. The odds in MM are calculated by comparing the number of possible outcomes to 1 winning outcome. The odds of any one of the 56 numbers are calculated differently because there are 5 winning outcomes. We know it's possible to have the 5 winning outcomes in a group of 28 numbers so we calculate those odds the same way we calculated the overall odds by comparing the number of possible outcomes to 1 . It doesn't change the fact

Do some number combinations have better odds?
In a nutshell, the topic that this thread started with is the same topic of most people who are trying to do better at any lottery game. Play combinations with better odds. However, because that is not possible, I have put forth that argument here. Although I do also suppose you guys are right about one thing.... There is no need for long conversation. My argument is simple - every combination of numbers has the same odds on any given night. Therefore, the thesis that some combin

Do some number combinations have better odds?
I get impatient waiting for you and/or Stack47 to show us how to choose one of the CORRECT subsets of 28 numbers in the Megamillions game. When Ronnie ran his test, five of his groups of 28 numbers matched five numbers and one of those matched the bonus number. Before the test, the conversation was about easy to identify groups like all high or all low and all even or all odd. The question was is it possible to find other groups that will get at least 2 five number matches in 39 drawings? .

USA MM test run of various pick methods
Given the recent run on 28 picked numbers, I propose a different amount of numbers to be picked. The sweet spot seems to be 18 numbers (not too hard, not easy too and with meaningful odds layout). 18 numbers picked have the following odds: 1 match = 1 in 2.87 2 matches = 1 in 2.96 3 matches = 1 in 6.66 4 matches = 1 in 32.85 5 matches=1 in 445.82 The aim is really to show that a prediction is possible by beating natural odds. The contestants can use whatever method they want. T
