Tenn. lawmaker balks at high lottery pay for vice presidents
A state legislative leader said he hoped that Tennessee's lottery would pay its top officials less than top executives at the Georgia lottery were paid when Rebecca Paul was director there.Paul, the new Tennessee lottery director who officially came from Georgia this week, had a dozen lottery vice presidents working for her in Georgia five of them earning $151,000-$180,000 a year, including bonuses.''That seems to be on the high side,'' said state Sen. Ron Ramsey of Blountville, Senate Republ

DC 5 Lottery needs to be audited immediately. The same thing that happened to Tennessee in 2007
This was bought to my attention from jimjwright regarding my prior post of DC Pick 5 1-200 million odds
As of right now Dc 5 has played all single digits 36 times in a row. Not 1 duplicate digit has been played in the 36 draws. Duplicate digits make up roughly 70% of the numbers. Mathematically this is impossible and seems to be what happened to pick 3 and Pick 4 in Tennessee in 2007

Lottery is not random it's predetermined
I've always believed that state lotteries truly want winners, especially big jackpot winners. What does rigging a draw do for the state?
I think there are two obvious reasons for the lotteries themselves to rig the game(s). One would be so that a few insiders could divert prize money to themselves. The other, and better, IMHO, reason would be to allow a jackpot to continue growing in order to boost sales.
The problem is that no matter how much the people running the lottery might apprec

About those NC Digital Online Games...What's the verdict?
I asked the search engine about NC digital instant games and what money they take in vs what money they pay out. I asked the question b/c the games seem to just take your money and never give you anything substantial. Below is the response, but I am having trouble believing that they pay out 87% of proceeds. Nonetheless, I do believe the part that says that even though they are taking in more $$ with these games, that they are contributing less to the education system than they did before the di

Virginia - May 2025
If a trip falls on the 15th, it will tie the record for the greatest gap between trips in Virginia. After that... we sail into waters that I can only chart with statistics. I have a simple metric that I use to sort of judge whether something is really unusual or if I am just getting impatient or what. I use the 1 in 1000 odds of hitting a straight to calibrate my expectations. We all have a feel for what 1 in 1000 odds look like and feel like because we live it. To a maths person, it means we ha

California Lottery director resigns amid investigations
California State Lottery Director Hugo Lopez is stepping down immediately, he announced in an email to lottery staff on Friday.
Lopez has led the department since 2015. It's been under scrutiny from the Department of Justice and the State Controller's Office since August, when anonymous employees sent a letter to former Gov. Jerry Brown's office alleging misconduct among senior executives at sales conferences.
Lopez in his message said he was proud of the department's performance, particul

California Lottery official dismissed amid investigations
A senior California Lottery executive has been dismissed from his position six months after anonymous state employees sent a letter to the Governor's Office complaining about rowdy behavior among a group of the lottery's top brass.
Deputy Director of Sales James David Cole's dismissal comes amid ongoing investigations into hiring practices and alleged misconduct by senior lottery executives during a 2016 sales conference.
Cole was notified Feb. 1 that his employment would be officially ter

After bawdy photos, California Lottery workers demand resignations
Five veteran Lottery employees on Thursday demanded that senior department executives resign amid investigations into hiring practices and alleged misconduct on a work-related trip two years ago.
They addressed the state Lottery Commission one month after an anonymous writer sent a letter to officials in Gov. Jerry Brown's administration that included pictures of senior Lottery leaders carrying on at a Southern California bar. It also included anecdotes describing disparaging treatment of emp
