Powerball Matrix Change - April 15, 2015
Wow. I forgot about the talk of changing the Powerball matrix and have not been coming to read the news here for weeks. After reading this whole thread I'm going to play the Powerball even less if at all. I'm a jackpot player who throws in a few bucks I have left in my wallet IF the cash jackpot is as high as the odds to win it. In 2014 this meant very few plays of the big jackpot games and going forward I expect even less plays. The odds have become utter crap and I prefer playing poker or blac

What, no systems to win a jackpot game!
What, no systems to win a jackpot game?
I'm looking a the most recent posts in the system forum and all I see are systems for pick3 and pick4. Is it that winning those games have odds of 1:1000 and 1:10000? Have LP members come to the conclusion that trying to effect their odds of winning a jackpot game is a waste of time and the only thing worth doing is buying a ticket and hoping to get lucky?
Or have jackpot games with higher odds and lower jackpots lost their appeal? I noticed the last

Powerball Matrix Change - April 15, 2015
Regardless of the exact details, your posts are very helpful. Many, including myself, had no idea Powerball matrix was changing until seeing this thread.
Wish Powerball or some other large jackpot game would go for lower odds at a higher price-point. Some players justify spending the extra dollar on Powerball due to the better odds of hitting the jackpot, and likewise with 2nd place, verses Mega Millions. If both games end up having similar odds, Mega Millions may pick up some players due to

Why are the Systems failing?
Not necessarily and I say this for one main reason...the amount of money being spent and prize being won. Of course, any state would put limits and/or shut down a person or people that have mastered how to profit MILLIONS per shot of playing.
The thing is this couple wasn't making millions, just making a profit worthy of the time and money they spent. Eve when a player beat the odds by 500%, the payouts are designed such that he loses money. For example in a local game Ohio Classic Lotto th

MMC Game Show
LottoMetro and Grengrad,
Thank-you both for your feedback!
LottoMetro, that point you made about getting a player hooked via free entries is exactly why I came to this message board: to see if everyone playing was getting the max points possible at first.
Buy it seems like trying to get on the show is not really worth pursuing beyond a lark, even though I certainly did get a good start with the Boardwalk-Park Place pairings.
Anyway, the math is dizzying.
I'll only add a few poi

Pennsylvania House passes bill giving Lottery odds and prize flexibility
The Pennsylvania House has voted 195-1 to send to Gov. Tom Corbett a bill that Pennsylvania Lottery officials say will give them more flexibility in setting player odds and prizes, increasing sales in the long run.
But that flexibility is paired in the bill with a new requirement that the General Assembly have final approval over any Lottery plans to add new game categories like Keno or Internet-based games.
The latter clause, added by the state Senate earlier this fall, was a response to

New multi-state lottery game launches Sunday
If the lottery TRULY wanted to make a game that gave more prizes they would make it like a classic $1/$2 lotto 6/6 with true pari-mutuel payouts for all greater than 3 match tiers for each drawing and having the jackpot grow slower. Of course the state/states making the percentages work for profit making it possible to fund the children's schools, right?
As far as losers winners go, there will be many more losers than winners in this new Monopoly game. For eg. for the $20,000 prize....odds ar

New multi-state lottery game launches Sunday
It will be interesting to see how well it does in Ohio if it ever comes there.
Odds of winning top prize in its Classic Lotto which starts at $1M are 1/14M = odds of 1/14M per dollar spent.
$5 will buy five chances at those odds.

New multi-state lottery game launches Sunday
referring to your last sentence....I would, to me thats better odds than the other big pots. I think what the problem is with all the negative response to this game is you got a bunch of losers that have no positive attitude. what else can i say.
I read all these post and all were not negative but the negative ones gave their certain reasons why they not playing which is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinon. But I am starting to suspect a lot cant afford to spend 5 bucks and blame it on

New multi-state lottery game launches Sunday
Comparing by odds is not a very good comparison. It doesn't do you much good to have a 75% chance of winning if you only win 1 dollar. Instead, you should divide the prizes by cost and compare the probability-weighted payoffs (EV). People think EV is useless but mathematically speaking it is the most accurate comparison.
With that being said, the new game really IS awful for the cost, but if the Millionaires' Club prizes get into the hundreds then the game will be a far better bet than many s
