Calculating odds for a subset of numbers
Assuming I'm playing 56/46 MegaMillions and I'm able to pick 200,000 tickets for each drawing
that cotains the Jackpot winning ticket for 75% of the drawings. How would I calculate my odds for each drawing?
I've calculated this several different ways and nothing seems right. It's obviously more than 200k/1 but
less than 173m/1.

Which odds are better?
The object is to match winning lines as closely as possible
That's among the stupidest things that lottery players believe, and that's saying a lot. The object is to match winning numbers exactly. You don't win squat for having numbers that are close, or have similar parameters. The odds of drawing a 1 are exactly the same as drawing a 34, the odds of drawing a 2 are exactly the same as drawing a 26, and soon. Every combination has exactly the same chance of being drawn, whetehr you underst

Better odds but still hard to win on Mass Cash anyone play this one?
Hi everyone,
I play Mass Cash and the most numers I've gotten have been 3 out of 5. Now with Mass Cash you have to get 5 numbers out of 35 to win the prize of 100K and the odds are better then the big jackpots like MM or PB yet it still seems so hard to win. I was wondering if others played this game and how your luck has been. I tend to play quick picks but the few times I've picked my own numbers haven't been any better for me.
Thanks

A Black Swan in the lottery?
Roulette has a better payout relative to odds, than pick 3 games generally do.
Pick 3 odds are 1 in 1000, so the house edge on a payout of 500 for 1 is 50%. 600 for 1 is 40%.
Roulette odds are 1 in 38 in American, and 1 in 37 in European roulette. The edge is on American is 2/38=5.26% and European is 1/37=2.63%.
That's a huge difference in edge.

buying multiple tickets, but only changing one number?
Nevermind, I went away from it for a bit and realized it wasn't so, lol. Isn't the 31/324,632 to simplistic though? I would think my chances would actually be even worse than that now that I think about it.
Wouldn't doing this basically turn the game into a 31 choose 4 game?? With odds closer to 1:30,000?
I guess either way, those still wouldn't be too bad for odds. $31 for either a 1:10,000 or 1:30,000 chance at the jackpot (currently 140k). People buy scratch tickets for $20 with mu

Does anyone play their state lotteries any more?
Well I'm simply playing the odds. Straight up, using no filters, it's 5 in 12,271,512 or 1 in 2,454,302. In fact, all the program would be doing is just generating quick picks. Depending on the filters I use, my potential odds , for lack of a better term, is much better. So if I apply a filter that eliminates say 5,000,000 bad sets, another that eliminates 3,000,000 bad sets, and another that eliminates 2,000,000 bad sets, and I went and bought 5 lines then, then it would be 5 in 2,271,512 or 1

Let's Compare Our Numbers & the Odds? OPEN 4 Discussion?
New member here but played off on through the years and to be frank, well while it can't hurt to dream or want and I know you can't win if you don't play. Waste of money is what it is but it is what it is. So anyway, I use to play Texas Lotto and got pretty good and close with the numbers but never won. Right before they changed the Texas Lotto this last time. I can't remember if they ever changed before. And wouldn't you believe I had these numbers and didn't play them and I would have hit 5 nu

Post your scratch ticket results
I agree, it seems those odds are off, OR they put tons of winners in different books and they dont get to our part of the state.
I remember when FMC came out. Winning $200 on FMC and winning $500 on GRT are basically the same odds. There were days when I hit $200 on FMC multiple times in a day. Kinda strange that I havent found a $500 winner on GRT with odds of 1 in 196
Leads me to believe the bulk of winners is being sent to different parts

Buying More Tickets Does Not Increase Your Odds.
Actually the question is Does buying more tickets increaase your odds of winning - As stated in the first post on this really annoying thread. You guys continue to say it doesn't but offer no mathamatical proof, and now your just going to disregard actual proof.
For the last time for those who may be opening to learning something - yes each individual ticket has the same odds of winning.. but collectively they increase your overall odds of winning. If you can't understand that because yo
