Why Do Mathematicians Consider The Lottery Random
No, he doesn't have a 65 percent edge, his odds of getting a win are 65 percent in the main pool. The Edge the Casino has is always 10 percent, since any winning bet will pay out as 90 percent of the odds of it occuring. Any simulation you'll run will, over time, find youself at about 100 percent of odds, and when you deduct the 10 percent edge, the payout would be about 90 percent of total bets. I've been trying to explain that the 600 ish draws your friend played is SHORT TERM, not lon

Why Do Mathematicians Consider The Lottery Random
As for that method - The math to work out the exact odds would be very complicated - If you are interested I can work out a rough estimate, but the math is actually impossible to do accurately since the method is based on variables I don't know, and I'm assuming you don't know. I could do the math with just the pool of 6500 fairly easily - but it seems to me that your friend made most of his money on the smaller pools, if I had that data - then I could calculate the odds of winning at le

WHY Are They Starting Another Draw Game? WHY??
Weekly Grand pays $25 for matching 3 numbers but only $200 for matching 4. Kentucky has a $1 or 50 cent daily game (except on Sunday) called Cash Ball where the secondary prizes compared to the odds seem out of whack too. It's a four ball game with 31 numbers plus 33 bonus numbers. The odds of matching 2 numbers plus the bonus number are 521 to 1 and the payoff is $26 and the odds of matching just 3 numbers are are lower at 365 to 1, but the payoff is $100. It's strange that Idaho would of

Lucky lottery lady outed as Stanford University statistics PhD
No, I'm referring to an earlier treatment of this same Ginther affair. When that ridiculous odds number was mentioned before, it was a joke to anyone who knows that the only way to get such an astronomical number is to MULTIPLY the odds of each of the 4 games by each other, which is patently absurd, unless you were predicting IN ADVANCE that you were going to win 4 specific games, IN ADVANCE!! It's still a joke! Of course, if you believe that the odds of a coin coming up heads is less that 50% a

Anyone out there playing strictly high #'s on their tickets?
How long has it been since your set of numbers won a big prize? Those extreme odds are about ten thousand times better than the odds of winning a $10,000 prize in MM or PB. They're about 3 million times better than the chance of winning a MM or PB jackpot. When lotteries start handing out prizes for picking a number distribution that's similar to the winning numbers you'll be making a sensible decision in avoiding such distributions. As of now you only win for matching the numbers that are ac

Making money from lottery
Hello all, I'm a newbie here at Lottery Post and just started reading the forums. I know many may say yeah, yeah yeah, but I AM ahead with my state lottery. I play the daily numbers pick 4 mostly, and some pick 3 for the improved odds. Back in February I started studying the past years numbers, and did so for a few days. I started playing 20 (.50) straight/box combos on Feb 12, 2011 and on Feb 14th hit for 2,604.00 (and yes I have a copy of ticket and lottery check). I played for another 2 weeks

Post your scratch ticket results
James. Glad you got to see that side of it, as it helps us as well. Sometimes we get in that mindset that the winner has to be next. Well store A might not even have anything worth noting. Of all bets I can think of, instant lottery is the thing that is most out of our hands and the worse odds. I always play with fun money, but since finding this site, I have seemed to play alot more(of course I had more spare cash also). I am def cutting back. I want scratch offs to be fun again, not depressing

Play with"Real world ODDs System" & Win without luck or feelings.
Thanks Delta .... I was hoping that we could all share some of our favorite stategies usingodds .....together. Doing a Solo wasn't the idea. Everyone should know at least some of the math and odds behind their game. If they don't .....they really should...or otherwise how do you know if your plays are just lucky........or not? Throw down on some of your methods ........based on the old tried and true odds of the game. Remember....... ODDS never change ....but probabilities

Is Scratch off Lottery (SOL) fair to all?
I'm not sure how the process of SOL printing and distribution work but I feel like it may not be fair to all participants. For e.g. let's say there is a lottery with 4 X 1 million dollar prizes and you enter the fray when top 3 prizes had been already taken as opposed when there were 4 unclaimed prizes i.e. when the game began. Do you think odds of winning still apply whether 1 top prize left or 4 top prize left? Does lottery spread top prizes across the distribution or it is randomly mixed?
