Winning The Lottery Is A Numbers Game-More Entries Gives You More Chances Of Winning
if there was a lotto where the odds of winning was a hundred to one, you could buy 50 tickets. Then, if you make a pie chart of your chances of winning, half the pie would represent your chances because you greatly improved your odds.
If you had a game like power ball, with a 195 million to one odds and you made a pie chart, your chances of winning with one ticket would be represented by only a tiny sliver on the chart. If you made another pie chart with your chances of winning with 1,000 tic

MADDOG'S Powerball Challenges (Discussion)
how do you account for the FACT that the Challenge players did marginally BETTER during 2010 than Chance predicted?
It can be shown that when using a smaller pool of numbers, if by chance three or more of the winning numbers are in it, you're more likely to have a winning combination than if you were using the larger pool of all the numbers. One would think it would balance out over time when there are less than three winning numbers in the smaller pool with no chance of winning anything but

Mega Millions lottery winner recounts epic win
On abc news radio they said the odds of buying the 2 sets with the $150 winner and the Jackpot winner were 2.7 trillion to one - which is completely wrong! First of all, if you play your own #s and you had 2 different tickets your odds for the Jackpot are half of 175 million to one, and if the tickets share 4 common numbers then if you win one you AUTOMATICALLY win the other $150, so the odds are not 2.7T to 1 but 87.5 million to one.
Also I see that he followed Richard Lustig's prime directi

$330 MILLION: Mega Millions lottery jackpot nears record high
OK, you are reluctant to have a discussion that expresses odds in a mathematical format, so let's try this a different way.
I would assume that you know that all odds can be expressed as 1 chance in _____ . If we can't agree on that, then I'm not sure we can have any discussion at all. So please just validate that you agree with this statement.
Then, as step two, please fill in the blank: After I buy 13 tickets, my odds of winning tonight are 1 in ______.

COIN TOSS
Odds of 575,757 to one and you're supposed to win huh? That's about as credible as Stack47 guesing there have ben 90 jackpots paid when there were actually 149
Are you on crack or something??? the odds say that somewhere in the US where lottery games are played there will be at least 1 winner otherwise no one would play look at the odds in PowerBall and MegaMillions and PEOPLE still win in those games

Let's create a "So what" test
I agree with placing hopes on buying systems from people who only care about making a sale is a waste of money. I have never bought a system or book on lotteries, and most likely never will (never is a long time, hence, most likely ).
Having said that, I believe it's futile to place hope in any system or method in order to find the exact numbers that will be drawn in a jackpot game. There are just too many combinations. When I look at other people's posts about what they are doing, I'm lookin

Going to be buying a roll of tickets in PA
Only one poster here had the logical reasoning when buying a roll of ticket. Research to see which GAME has the highest amounts of Unclaimed Top prizes still outstanding......Sorry but I dont go by the odds of the game so much as the Odds that the BIG FISHS are still out in the waters waiting to be caught :)
CASH FEVER stil has some top prizes outstanding and its been out awhile.
Stay away from any Win for Life game...both the odds of winning anything major is low and its been months since

New Game. How should I approach it?
A 5/11 game's odds any order are 1:462, I'm surprised they would pay 460 for that and would expect more like a 230 payout.
Again a 5/11 game where you pick 4 and they draw 5 the odds are 1:66 I find it hard to believe they run a lottery at break even odds, there has to be more to it.

Israel Lottery draws same numbers twice in month
Stack47,
I noticed that error in the article too. The first expert they interviewed was wrong, the second one was correct. The odds are NOT in the trillions to one UNLESS the Event is, The odds of drawing [N1, N2, N3, N4, N5, N6] TOMORROW AND THE NEXT DAY! If the question is what are the odds of drawing TOMORROW, the set that was ALREADY DRAWN TODAY, the answer is as you stated above. (I assume you meant 2.65 - their White Balls are based on a 6/37 matrix.)

Do you ever feel like you're wasting money when playing the lottery?
I'll admit that sometimes I look around while driving and think about how bad the odds actually are, I mean they could all play and all lose. Makes me feel pretty un-motivated to play because of how stacked the odds are against me. It's like going to New York, picking out one address and the person living there being someone you know... except times twenty.
But then again, those were the odds for everyone else that won. I'm sure at points they were also thinking they were wasting money p
