Can it pass the "So what" test?
More odds than evens, X% of the time isn't exactly So what? depending on the value of X.
That skews certain combinations forward. Imagine if a state's RNG pick-3 started to pull 2 odds and 1 even. Every day. For a week.
Few people would say So what? Some would kvetch, but a smart few would start loading up on 2 odds, 1 even bets by the 3rd day.

Best way to play the odds?
You're assuming the bets are for different games. If the bets are for the some game then the odds are the same, because either way you have 10 tickets for one game. If the tickets are for 10 different games, you wil have th epossibility of multiple wins, but there's no such thing as a free lunch. The chances of winning multiple games are offset by having a reduced chance of winning even once. If you play all 46 mega balls for Friday night you have a 100% chance of having a ticket with the wining

I need someone to calculate the odds of this happening
No, not true in this case.
If you were calcuting the odds of getting one specific number of your choosing twice then sure, you're right. But that's not the case here.
The first number can be anything, so there are no odds associated with it. The only odds are of the second number matching the first. Hence 1-in-1000.

I need someone to calculate the odds of this happening
Have been a premium member for a year and just re upped . I have learned a lot in the past year from this site. Today I could not come up with some 3 digit numbers but wanted some action. I went to the store and told the clerk to give me 2 quick picks dollar straight. I looked at the 2 tickets and both had 334. I thought the clerk made a mistake. HOWEVER in Maryland the computer generated quickpicks have a QP on the tickets. My quesiton is what are the odds of having the computer pick the SAME n

12 Michigan women + 2 men share $12.7M lottery jackpot
Anyone who says that buying one ticket gives you the same odds as buying 10 or more is not using common sense. Sure, I agree that only one ticket wins the jackpot, but 10 gives you 10 shots at it. Even better, if everyone pitches in $5, then you've got 50 chances instead of 5. The odds, depending on the game, are still astronomical, but the more tickets you buy, the better your odds, even if the difference seems insignificant.
I'd like to add that if someone here wins $450,000 and doesn't wa

also please don't think i am bumping my thread i am just adding something i think is important...that time limit of 20 minutes to modify your post is actually like 7 minutes because i've timed it, i think they should increase it if they don't want people bumping their thread...
Anyways like how i was saying nobody is asking you not to go solo, you can go solo all you want they are just asking you to contribute [different than donate] 50 dollars a month for 2 months that's it, not any more....

The Mega Millions is Fixed
I think it is funny how people complain that the lottery has something fixed. They way the lottery Fixes the game is by having RANDOM draws. You can't predict something unpredictable. Odds do say that in the long run certain things will happen. Unfortunetly games with odds of 1 in 170,000,000 will never have a long run to see the odds play out.
Lotteries don't need to fix anything, a random game gives them what they want. I.E a Mega Millions jackpot gets won a $222,000,000 and then two weeks

The Mega Millions is Fixed
If you look at the back of any Mega Million card you will find for getting two numbers you do not win anything.
Have you calculated the number of addition winners there would be if matching two numbers paid any thing. The number of 2+0 winners would be more than twice the 0+1, 1+1 and 2+1 winners together. The odds are matching 2+0 are 1:18 which would reduce the overall odds of winning something to 1:12.7 which would eliminate the possibility or multi million dollars jackpots. Games with o

Don't be taken in by The Texas Blockbuster scratchoffs.
I am sorry Bradly, but I have to disagree. Anyone who has sold tickets (and I am sure it is similar in all states) will be able to tell you that a book of tickets will only average 1 big winners in it, and I am talking about $50 to $500 range. The rest of the so-called winners are tickets you get to scratch off for free. Occasionally, it will have more of course, but they are not the norm. And trust me the lottery gets very creative with their odds, I don't know if they use fuzzy math, but I kno

winning then playing with your winnings
The odds of winning the game's jackpot are the same as the number of lines you would have to play to guarantee a jackpot. This only works for jackpots, the odds of lower tier prizes do not equal the number of lines necessary to guarantee that prize.
Anyway, you would have to wait until the prize rolled over to be worth more then the number of lines necessary to play to win. Then if you won, you would have to wait again for the jackpot to grow bigger then the odds. The problem is the probab
