A comment on the new Powerball Expectation Values.
I am trying not to purchase any PB tickets, since I am already spending too much, but it's tempting.
My experience talking to customers at lottery retailers tells me most people don't really think about the odds. Over $1.5 million PB tickets were sold in FL in the first 2 days. One woman tonight bought a PB ticket and asked is it just like Lotto? I mentioned that the jackpot is currently much higher, but the odds of winning it are 1:195 million. She answered Well, then it's just like Lott

Just noticed this with the Super Lotto Plus...
What does rare occurrence mean? The odds of getting 4 of 5 plus the mega ball in SLP is 1 in 197,221. Those odds are the same whether it's the chance of your ticket matching the winning numbers, or any individual one of the previous winning numbers matching it. The game has been around for more than 8 years, so there are roughly 850 past results. That makes the chances of a 4+0 match for any individual drawing about 850 in 197,221 or 1 in 232. The chances that 1 of the next 24 drawings will have

Powerball matrix change
The addition of the 4 white balls causes a big change in the odds of matching 3 or 4 or 5 white balls. The odds of winning the 5 of 5 prize are going to jump to more than 1 in 5million. And they are keeping the prize at $200,000? I know the power play prize on the 5 of 5 is pretty nice but still. And the odds of matching the 3 and 4 are going to be a lot higher as well and their not changing any of the prizes? Kind of odd if you ask me.

Virginia man wins 11 times in one lottery drawing
I assumed that since they quaranteed $100,000 winner per ticket that they would have a large number of numbers to choose from. This game is only 5/34!!!! The odds of winning are about 1 in 250,000. That is not bad odds at all. I mean the jackpot to be only about half the odds, that is hard to come by these days. And they pay up to $2,000,000 per drawing for matching 5/5. I want to play this game...haha

Countdown to Powerball in Florida
I'll never understand the 'sharks in a feeding frenzy' reaction to a Multi-state lottery ading another state (except for those who live in the new state and will get a chance to play).
All expansion of the game does is make a game with already astronomical odds have even more astronomical odds.
There should be laws about only being allowed to expand a matrix so much.
Granted, with the new PB matrix one side of the game will be reduced, but watch what happens to the odds against hiting t

207 Million over.
It has been discussed before, and I dont understand why so many people have such a hard time with it. Math works exactly the same way in statistics as it does for anything else, but we're dealing with probability, not statistics. Your odds of winning are based on the ratio of the number of ways to win vs. the total number of possible outcomes, not the number of ways to lose. That ratio is a fraction, and even though the numbers may be bigger, that's 3rd grade math.
If you buy 20 tickets for M

Best Odds to win a Million dollar Lottery Raffel !
Soooooooooooooooooooo.......I guess you're saying that $50 for a chance to win $1,000,000.00 is not worth it???
I dont think so because the odds are still against you. I been playing pick 3 for about 2 years almost everyday and i only won 2 times box bets, I NEVER won a straight with odds of just 1000 to 1. whats the guarantee of me winning throwing 50 dollers to win a million with odds of 30000 to 1?
I am sorry but anyone who plays the lottery expecting to win needs to have

The only way you are going to make money consistantly in this game is by buying EXACT!!!! playing any is a ripoff and you will not make any money that is signifigant!!!!! I will occassionally put a few anys in there is I want to play a sum but not all the numbers for insurance purposes, but it is only a hedge and not a true gamble to pay off big.
As you all know, I have won thousands of dollars using this strategy, i don't see why anyone wouldn't play at least a couple exact. I know some
