Powerball lottery jackpot up to $81M for Wed.
I'd rather wait and win after they change the odds. The average jackpot should be bigger with the new odds, so chances are I'd win a bigger jackpot. $10 or $27 million this week would be nice, but $20 next month or $50 million next year would be even better. That's the real reason the matrix is changing. Your chances of winning the jackpot are already wildly unrealistic, but you take your chance because it's so damn much money. More money means more people will take the chance, even if it is

Powerball lottery jackpot up to $81M for Wed.
Yup, big increase that isn't even reflective of how many potentially new players there will be from Florida joining. They just wanted worse odds than MM so they can easily reclaim the jackpot record. Do you think it'll make it to over 400 million the first time out or will it take a few months? It's going to be weird how Mega Millions will now have the better odds... Though that's not saying much. Has Mega Millions or the Big Game ever had better odds than Powerball before? I'm sure they h

Oregon Lottery to start new raffle game
Yeah the odds might be 125k to 1 to win a raffle but on a dollar by dollar basis a $20 ticket is like hitting a 2.5 million to one lotto for a buck. It is just another way to screw with the numbers to make it APPEAR that your odds are so great. The only benefit of a raffle game to the common player is lack of churn. Only high tier prizes are rewarded. So this lotto makes more sense to play when looking for the life changing score. The reason most lotteries pay out 2 of 5 or 3 of 6 is

What is your lottery personality?
I know this has already been discussed in the past, but tonight when Pumpi asked about the personality of a lottery game, I thought I'd start this topic. Although I don't believe a game itself can have a personality, each lottery player chooses a game for a different reason. Example: Someone who mainly plays pick-3 might simply prefer the odds over a game like PB, whereas someone who only plays PB or MM might just be after the huge jackpots, even though the odds of winning are astronomical.

Lottery Chatter
Buying hundreds of dollars worth of QPs would only help your odds in PIck 3. And it would pretty much assure you that if you got the hit, you would have spent more than what you won. So you would have lost. In jackpot games, do the math. If there are more than a million possible combinations, and you buy one QP then your odds are 1 in a million or so....Buy a few hundred and how much does that help? It really doesn't. It may get you more of the lower tier prizes, but likely not enough to cove

Confession/Poll
I'm not judging you, but I'm a little puzzled by all of this. Not sure where in Central Florida you live, but I'm in the Naples area on the west coast and live about 500 miles (each way) from Hardeeville. Anyway, I'm just trying to use logic here and my question is this. Florida has a lot of games, including a state lotto with 1 in 23M odds. MM odds are about 1 in 176M. PB odds are about 1 in 146M. So, although we all know it just takes one ticket, the chances you might win our state game ar

California Gov. calls for expanding, privatizing lottery
I agree JW, California seems to find more ways for us to play without increasing the payouts odds. When I saw the pick 4, it didnt even phase me; There is no way I will play any more games. I even stopped scratchers. I noticed that other states have the option of megaplier (for MM) but CA does not. Is it because we can win more money with the same odds? not sure. I look at the odds of some of the other states and CA seems to not even compare. I wish we coudl play powerball. I was even thin

Scratch ticket odds question
I'm from Boston MA. I've got alil disposable income from my taxes wanna try my luck on some scratchers. What I wanna know is, if I buy say 45 $5.00 scratch tickets, what could be my odds on getting a decent win? I don't really care bout tryin to hit big, a grand would be cool, but this is more just for fun as I don't play very often. Also, should I buy 45 of the same or spread it out? When I do play, I usually goto alil spot in Quincy(For any MA people out there this place is pretty decent)where

Heads up on new $2 GA Lottery scratcher
The GA Lottery site has the odds for the new $2 $50,000 Bling ticket listed as 1 in 3.07. I just bought some and it's actually 1 in 4.07. I don't know how many people around here actually keep track of scratcher odds, but I thought I'd let anyone from GA who browses this forum and keeps up with that stuff know about it. I'll probably send an email to the GA Lottery crew about it after I get this posted. I bought some anyway (4 to be exact) and hit a $27 winner (9x $3) and a $3 winner (Blin

Mega lottery winner to stick with Ford, ex-wife
See my previous post. Yes, each ticket has a 1 in 175 million chance of winning, but when you buy 10 tickets you don't look at your total odds of winning by examining each ticket independently. You have 10 tickets (chances) out of 175 million, not 1 chance. Each ticket has exactly the same likelihood of winning, but YOU -- the person who owns all 10 chances -- have 10 chances to win, not 1, so your chances (odds) of winning are 10 out of 175 million, which means your odds are 1 in 17.5 mil
