A&E lottery show
There are actually people that hang out on crap tables with pads and pencils waiting for a 12 not to show for 35 rolls and then bet it (on the business, these people are known as 'skids' and 'fleas').
There you go. You agree that the odds of something happening don't change just because it did or didn't happen already. I've never said we know when something will happen, and you also agree. Of course the corollary is that we also don't know when something won't happen. The odds of roll

I look at it like this... (odds of winning)
I look at it this way:
If I fly somewhere, I have an even chance of dying in a plane crash........
In fact, the odds of you dying in a plane crash - or being struck by lightning 3 times - are better than the odds of winning a jackpot.
The way I got it figured, on my BEST day the chances of ME winning the jackpot are 1 in about 10 million. Still not good odds, but this is just a hobby for me, I love playing a chess match with constantly changing dynamics, and I'm getting better at it eve

Realities of winning the lottery
There is a battle going on with the players vs. the Lottery. Serious players want to find patterns in the numbers so they have a fighting chance and the Lottery wants the game to be as fair as possible so will move Heaven and earth to make drawings as random as possible. But the balls are within very tight tolerances and the machines precision-made and the drawings adhere to strict procedures. An advanced enough program can diminish the odds to reachable levels. I have won a game where the odds

Probabilty of Someone Winning a PB & MM Jackpot in the same Week!
johnph77
The odds of winning if one buys two tickets are cut in half.
NOPE, they are not. Here's the flaw in this. Let's say there's a game with the odds of one million to one.
Lottery odds are based on the possible number of combinations.
So you guys with the odds are cut in half with each ticklet are saying this:
first ticket one in one million
second ticket (same game) one in 500,000
third ticket: 1 in 250,000
fourth ticket: 1 in 125,000
fifth ticket: 1 in 62

The Pick 3 Benford Matrix
It's interesting to see someone applying it as a filter to the digits. I havent really had time to do much testing lately, I'll try to post some more info this coming week.
Normally, thier should be three or four digits in each position that meet the criteria. This would gove you anywhere from 27 to 48 straights to play most the time. The odds of a BL digit hitting in all three positions at the same time to produce a win is going to be somewhere between 27/1000 (1 in 37 reduced odds) t

New FL Fantasy 5 Promotion
They are giving away more top prizes ($100 and $1000). The $1000 top prize is given out every 70,000 tickets and the $100 prizes are given out every 5,250 tickets. This is a fixed amount of winners given out. The lottery simply modified their computer system to give out more prizes per x number of Fantasy 5 tickets bought.
The overall odds of winning anything are about the same (was 4.88 now 4.87).
Still, the odds are not good ... the odds are in the scratch off ticket range. Actually, you

what are the odds?
on a pick 5 35 number lottery game if I do 3 nine number wheels covering 27 of the 35 numbers odds must be somewhat better than 1-350,000ish
if would think cut 1-100,000 I know the % rate of getting all 5 numbers on one 9 # wheel is less than 1%
nine number wheels are cheap 4/5 -9 number is only 9 bucks so for under 30 bucks you can do 3 of them and cover quite a few

Do you wait for the PowerBall to get to a certain amount?
Here are your odds:
If you don't play, you can't win... :)
You are correct: each persons' odds are no better the higher the amount gets, or by having more people play, but you cannot deny that it makes sense that the odds of SOMEBODY winning are slightly better when more people are playing, no ?
The only reason I would skip playing a few draws after a jackpot was won was because in the past, the chances of two jackpots hitting in a row was kinda rare - they would usually be at least

Computer VS Gravity
You can bet your behind the computer generated sets to choose from would be a lot higher than 1 in 5 mill.
Odds are one thing you can, and cannot, predict.
Odds can go one way for quite a long time, then gradually go the other way, the fun part is trying to find when that is happening, and the final basis 'number' when there is no basis, I am going thru that right now. One thing I noticed in my trackings occurred 3 times more than the other - it stood out like a sore thumb, I played it
