mega millions or powerball
Quote: Originally posted by DirtyWrat on February 4, 2006 The powerball website list the odds of hitting the correct powerball number as 1:68.96 How can the odds be that high with only 42 numbers to pick from? I'm not a math wizz, but you would think that the odds would be something like..............1:42??

Hoosier Lottery Does It Again
Excellent work Jim! I can assure you that the 8888's were not available, as I have a printout that states, this number has been cutoff . Ready for this one? Just 2 days later on the evening of Jan 10, I went to the Liquor Store in Cumberland, Indiana to purchase the 8888's again. This time I played 4444's on the betslip also. Guess What? I got the 4444's, but the 8888's were unavailable again. Can you believe it? Yet, you say that the Hoosier Lottery doesnt know about it. That does not surprise

Do you Wheel when playing Pick 5?
I voted other because I eliminate about 40 -50 % of the numbers and use quick picks from those remaining numbers.Since there are many wheelers on LP I am testing the quick picks against the wheels. Theory is that I can play more numbers with less lines. The other day playing 21 numbers out of 39, all five of the digits came from my 21 numbers used. In one line out of the 25 I got a 4 of 5, no big deal but it lowered my odds tremendously to hit the jackpot on that draw.5 of 5 in a 5/39 game pla

Ohio Lottery's new game three months without jackpot winner
I'm not going to say I don't like this game, because I do (somehow, I win at least $10 every time I play), but the people who are just coming up to the counter for an impulse buy are going to take one look at the advertising material for it and say the hell with it. People who are in a rush plop a buck down on the counter and expect to get a ticket. When the clerk says You need $2 to play this game that person will probably say Well, give me a MM ticket instead and that will end up being t

GA-KY-VA Lose for Life
LOTTOMIKE:I agree. I like Lotto South. I'd be happy with Lotto Georgia or Lotto South, because both have nice size jackpots (both start at $2 million).DoubleDown:You're absolutely right, DD, this new game certainly is gimmicky. And it has to be, because the state lotteries are trying to fool lottery players into playing this game. The cash option for this game, $520,000, is an absolute joke, and the state lotteries know it. The average cash value of a Lotto South jackpot is $4 to $5 million.

MM annuity equivalent in PB: $93M.
The current cash value of the MM jackpot is $44.9M. The advertised annuity jackpot is $77M meaning the cash/annuity ratio is 0.599. The current cash prize in powerball is $14.6M which is advertised as $30M annuity, meaning the cash/annuity ration is 0.489This means that a cash value prize (which represents the true value of a lottery prize) equivalent to the current MM jackpot prize would be represented as a $93M jackpot. The entire annuity business (as well as ever lengthening odds) is mislead

Simple Concept
O.K. I work for them . As in, I don't want them to go bankrupt so our money-well doesn't run dry. Put out one of your 100,000% payout games, and that's it, no more lottery. Besides, it doesn't necessarily matter what amount of numbers are in the field, but both that and the number of balls picked by the player. So while the field may seem like it's impossible to crack, you have to look at all the parameters. Because all that really matters are the odds. Look at the odds of my game, 1 in abo

quick pick or your own numbers
SirBrad,The only filters I use is all odd/even, high/low in the jackpot games. The other filters were killing me and it took many picks to come up with 25 filtered combos and a lot of extra time. The extra filtering was eliminating too many viable combos. So I'm sticking with my playable subset of numbers, the basic filters and letting the RNG do the rest of the work.Lottomike made a good point...if you can eliminate a subset of numbers, you increase your odds dramatically of hitting the jackp

Same Lotto Numbers Come Up Sat and Sun
takeitez asked: << That takes a mathematician ??? >>Reporters like to lend an air of authority to their stories. If one wrote a story about sunrise they'd probably quote an astronomer saying the sun rises in the east. Of course there's also that story in the related stories box that says that some Oklahomans are baffled by pick 3. Clearly whoever wrote this story has a pretty poor grasp of simple math if they believe the odds of picking a particular number from 1000 choices is a mill

Tenn lottery
konane said: Thank you very much for doing that!! You're welcome! I'll let you know when I send it. Your liking the game was one reason I responded to you in another thread that you were my hero. Oops! Did I ever reply to your post?! I don't remember it - sorry! Sometimes I forget to check back after I've posted something in a thread, so I may have missed it. Thanks for the kind words, though! Yeah, I like Lotto South soooooooo much that I spend only about 10% of what I spent on Lotto Georg
