quick pick vs. your own numbers
Talking standard 6/49 game. If you buy ten quickpicks the hyper geometric distribution of numbers chosen by a random process suggests about one third of the numbers chosen will appear twice, one third once and one third not at all. This means you will have about 36 of the 49 numbers amoung your tickets and when you play 36 out of 49 numbers you can generally expect to have 4 of the 6 winning numbers among them unless you have a process that accurately predicts winning numbers in a reduced field.

opinion needed
Hi,This guy (stefan vandevelde) lives only a few miles away from me.Unfortunately I don't find much good in his system.I've explained in former posts why his system doesn't improves the odds at all. (try a search on lottotrix to find my former posts)Basicly he increases the probability of winning 2 to a 100% certainty by decreasing the probability of matching something bigger. His theory is that you only have to match 4 numbers because you are guaranteed of matching two. Thus he claims this must

What will happen when they get too big
Quote: Originally posted by JimmySand9 on August 09, 2004Jackpot have reached over $300 million dollars over the the past few years. And lotteries are making the odds longer and longer to get these jackpots to grow bigger and bigger. The question is, when will the odds become too long? When will players find a game and just say Nobody can win this! and just not play. When will jackpots hit such high levels that chaos will break out?People managed to win the PA 6/69 game and that really stunk.

Basic system analysis question
Let's just say we're all playing in a 6/49 lottery and I decide not to play the six numbers from the previous draw in the next. A simple filter correct about half of the time. When correct this simple filter means I'm playing in a 6/43 game and EIGHT MILLION COMBINATIONS are swept off the table !!! (That's jackpot wise, I would be sweeping away half the potential 3, 4 and 5 number prizes too.)Clearly the odds are still huge against my winning, but in this draw I am playing at much better odds

Winning!
Quote: Originally posted by tg636 on June 18, 2004Why don't people win the jackpot?! Maybe BECAUSE THE ODDS ARE SERIOUSLY AGAINST THEM and the whole thing is so random no one possibly choose a winner from a system or a hunch. The odds of winning Megamillions are 1 in 135 million. Just for fun, pick a mega ball number and do the quick pick generator here. The odds of getting the number are just 1 in 52. How many tickets did you have crank out before you got one that matched your mega ball? 10 o

I spent $100 on mega millions quick pics
Grayfox, you asked us not to say this, but I will say it anyway: you need professional help.I recall that in my youth I was suicidal (over some girl whose face I can barely remember now) and not a day goes by that I don't regret even thinking of that. (I am so very happy now.)If you think that the odds against winning the lottery are huge, you ought to compare them to the odds of being born, which is one in 70 trillion (ignoring the odds that your parents would ever meet.) This means that you

120 (6 way) Quads Chart
Looks like odds and evens are separated and highs and lows. Used for trapping. ie: some people see a 1 in 2 dvent occur 7 days, 5 days, 6 days, etc. in a row. Lets say the following 7 combos are drawn:1) 5342) 9143) 0914) 1835) 2756) 3927) 671Now you see, the (almost) 1 in 2 dvent that occured 7 times in a row was the Odd Odd Even sequence. That was a little less than 1 in 128 dvent that occured. If it were actually fifty fifty then it would be a 1 in 128. The reason why I say it's less than
