Lotto Plus Going Back To Just Plain Lotto
The long odds of winning the Washington state lottery will get slightly shorter.Starting Oct. 5, the state will drop the Plus from Lotto Plus and change the game to increase the number of winners. In Lotto Plus, players pick five numbers out of 43 and one number out of 23, giving them a 1-in-11 million chance of winning the jackpot in the Wednesday and Saturday drawings. The Saturday jackpot was $41 million, the highest it has been.Starting next month, six winning numbers will be randomly chosen

Lotto winner hits big jackpot a second time
Gee, thanks for saving some for us. Shelley Hedwall claimed a $1.12 million jackpot from the Colorado Lottery on Tuesday, five years to the day after she hit the Lotto jackpot for $4 million. She said that she was a little apprehensive in that she did win once already, said lottery spokesman Todd Greco. And there might be some people out there who'd say, 'She won once; what makes her think she should play again?' But that was her ticket, her dollar and her dream. And sorry, folks, she picked

Seeing patterns where none exist
There is one factor that has not been brought up in this discussion. It is an intangible factor....there is no scientific data to corroborate it but it's a part of our existence. Many of you will disagree with me on this one. I'm as analytical as the next guy, but there are forces that go beyond analysis. It's called the human factor. Are we, as sentient beings, able to influence the outcome of dvents that happen around us in some as yet unknown fashion? I don't know. This is a whole other

Seeing patterns where none exist
Thomas a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. You are mixing apples and oranges. The one thing you don't seem to understand is the word EVENT. In the world of probabiltiy an dvent can be one time or it can be many times within the dvent. In a one Coin Toss dvent the odds are 50/50 ofcourse, and the probability is the same. In a Two coin toss dvent the odds are 50/50 .........., and the probability changes based on the results of first toss. In a Ten coin toss dvent the odds are 50/50 ........

Mega Millions getting boring
Quote: Originally posted by CASH Only on May 18, 2003 Konane: MM is run jointly by the 10 states that offer the game, so, the Georgia lottery director is hardly to blame. The NY Lottery had much more to do with the change from Big Game to MM, since NY (and Ohio) were added when MM began. NY's large population base was the biggest factor in the longer odds of MM vs Big Game. Fully understand that. Big Game was BEGUN and drawn in Illinois, then the headquarters of it transferred later to GA under

New York Lotto $45M
FYI: I'm a NYer. Cash, your assumption of NYers prefering MegaMillions over NY Lotto is simply wrong. To me, it's all about the jackpot amount and the odds. Right now, the NY Jackpot is at $45Million. Odds of winning on $1 bet is 1: 22.5Million. Jackpot for MM is $26M. Odds of winning on $1bet is 1: 135.1 Million. To me, if I'm on a lottery budget, the choice is a NO brainer. I'd play the NY Lotto. Higher jackpot with better pay.Now Cash, you mention the overall prize return in NY Lott

QUINTO (Washington state)
I'm just filling out play slips for Quinto's sat. nite draw.$1.9 million cashpot, odds : 1 to 2.6 million. If the state lottocommission were to change Quinto's format, I feel they would also change the structure of the game. Just like lotteries everywhere that have undergone changes, the lottery commission would most likely make the game harder to win. If person were to change the 5/52 game, based on a deck of playing cards, to #'s, Numbers 1-52, you could enter them in your software program, t

Do lottery systems really work?
I really don't know why your panties are in a wad, Lottowiz. I merely said I don't think lottery systems(the software kind) work any better than quick picks. You pretty much said the same thing yourself. I never called anyone foolish for using one. I actually bought a lottery system(wheel) back in the mid 80's. If I had used the system exactly as instructed I would have had to spend about $1700 a week in tickets. However, for an additional $20 I could get another system to use in conjuction with
