Help me undertsand odds
Now this is very important.
Also take into account the price of the ticket if you are buying something like a scratch off.
If you pay $20 for a ticket at 1:1,000,000 odds
and then you pay $1 for a ticket at 1:1,000,000 odds the effictive odds are 20 x better for the $1 ticket.
If the prize is the same, you would be much better off buying 20 $1 tickets.
Although it's not an exact science I take the prize cash value and divide by the odds abd divide that by the cost of the ticket. T

Help for my 6/49 game, from clever lottery post members
Its simple
If you improve the odds of getting 3 then you have a higher chance of hitting the next one 4 then 5 then 6
Improving the 3's is the key.
It's like the old saying goes count the pennys and the pounds take care of them self's
or for all you Americans count the dimes and the dollars take care of them self's
Its very much true when looking at the relationships in a lottery
Look at it this way someone gives you 6 balls and 6 coke cans spaced significantly apart not to be

Fooled by Randomness
Stack47,
If the previous number was 739 and if any other digit but 7 is drawn in the first position, 739 can't repeat.
Of course! But so what? Once a number other than 7 pops out of the first machine, 729 is a dead horse. However, BEFORE the first machine was cycled, the odds of 729 being drawn were 1 in 1000, the same as for all the other 999 possibilities.
Payoff odds are determine by he amount wagered.
Wrong. Payoff AMOUNTS are determined by the amount wagered. The ODDS remain the

Poll: Jinxing yourself?
Okay, I agree with the ego thing on both sides of the table. I do not recall saying games were taken out of the casinos or state lotteries for that matter, but now that you mention it,
So tell me which games of chance have failed and been taken out of the casinos.
Let s start with roulette. We now have 00. The game did not literally get taken out because it still bears the same name, but the same could be said for a one deck Blackjack shoe that is commonly a shoe of six decks. They just

Check my math, please?? :)
I am new to the lottery math. On a website I was reading it stated that there was a benefit to winning a prize by playing a number from the previous numbers, or avoiding previous winning numbers. I computed the odds and became puzzled because it didn't look like that would help at all and was wondering if someone could check the math to make sure it's correct.
It was for a particular lotto game, 5/56, and the site stated that there was a 44% chance of a number from the previous winning s

What do you do to Increase your Odds of Winning?
I use the term good luck now and then but it is just part of the vernacular. I think luck plays a very big role in the games because it is just another watered down superstition. It might be the underlying definitive of all superstitions. It is a belief system, and therefore a system in itself. Gail Howard used the term Smart Luck to describe her products. She included some kind of horriblescope for number selection if one was so inclined to depart from number analysis. Suckers love their supers

Key Wheels: Can someone explain it to me: Or am i going crazy..
All you have to do is guess the 2 key numbers from 1-14 the first 14 numbers or from 1-10...Not only that...You can look at the separation between the two key numbers, even or odd, high or low, and how close they are to the center....
At first I thought you meant guessing one pair out the 741 possible pairs and taking advantage of the fact there are 10 pairs in each drawing. But now it looks like you're guessing on one pair out of 91 low pairs. Basically you're saying if we beat 91 to 1 odd

Millionaire Jumbo Bucks (Ga.) question
That's truly unusual, with odds of 1 in 3.01 for any prize, the odds of not having any prize what so ever in 24 tickets would be ( 1 - 1/3.01 )^ 24 or 1 in 16,177 which means that there's a 16176 in 16177 chance of you having at least won one $20 prize in 24 tickets. Long odds, but just as with winning the lottery, it does happen. I would expect you to have had at least one such winning ticket after 6 tickets and average one such win ever two tickets in the long run.
Given that scratch off ti
