Six tickets each win $100,000 Mass Cash prize at the same store on the same day
I've been know to play PowerBall with the Power Play option added. I buy five lines with the first five numbers being identical. (I'm playing for a second place win) The ticket costs me 15 dollars, but if those first five numbers matched, then because I added the Power Play option, I'd win 10 million dollars. The second place prize for PB is a set 2 million dollars (with the PowerPlay) and it's not parimutuel. Odds are approximately 11 million to 1 against me. Not too bad odds to win 10 million

Massachusetts Lottery says it's not that uncommon
By Kate Northrop
Six tickets winning $100,000 in the Massachusetts Lottery's Mass Cash draw game were sold at the same store on Monday, but the Lottery says that it's not as strange as you might think.
A total of seven tickets won the $100,000 Mass Cash top prize on Monday, with six of them sold at the same retailer.
While it may seem like a peculiar occurrence, the Massachusetts Lottery said that it's not actually that uncommon.

How many combos in sequence for 5/36 matrix?
The above post is very likely the single best post I've ever seen on The Lottery Post. Thanks very much for going the extra mile and giving me info on linear progressions that I hadn't even considered or even knew of. (Which is more the case... I wasn't a fan of math in school. I knew it could be fascinating as Hell, but because I didn't want to be a good student, I basically didn't bother to study it. I'm the type of guy that got a 'C' without cracking a book. I've often wondered what my grades

Quick Picks - How do you use them?
I like to pick my own numbers most of the time, but I also play QP's. If you're playing numbers games like Pick 3, you might do better with your own picks. But, with jackpot games with odds in the millions, it really doesn't matter.
One example I pointed out in another thread is Texas 2 Step. A small jackpot game with odds 1 in 1,832,600. So far this year, there have been 22 jackpot winners and 19 of them have been QP's.
The Lotto Texas game there have been 5 jackpot winners, and 3 of

Florida Fantasy-5 Players
I tell people to Play Smartly and I can play smartly because I own lottery software.
In essence what I'm really doing is eliminating certain things. In doing so, I'm reducing the odds against me a little. There are 376,992 total possible combinations of five numbers in a 5/36 matrix. 249,696 of them are either 3/odd 2/even or 3/even 2/odd. So by playing just 3/2 combo's I eliminate 127,296 combo's. So to my way of thinking I reduced the odds against me to 249,696 to 1 from 376,992 to 1. But

Regardless of lotteries wins losses
Other people spending lots of money on tickets is what drives up the jackpot. That's ok by me. If people are not spending more than they can afford to lose, it's harmless.
As for why, it's just math. The more tickets you buy, the greater your probability of winning. That guy who bought 50,000 tix for megamillions had 1 in 6052 odds of winning the jackpot and 1 in 252 odds of winning a million. It was a calculated risk he could afford.
