Question? How does one deposit $550 million in the Bank?
CA lottery says they only do check, and do not do Electronic Funds Transfer.(EFT)
But they also say they will loan you one of their security people to accompany you to the bank. That must be fun. Love to see the look on the teller's face when you hand her a check for a few hundred million. Oh my, let me get my manager....Harry, it's a big one! And then they sit you down in the private area in a nice cushy chair with a latte and biscotti.
It's all electronic anyway, the check is just instru

Lottery Scammers Out in Full Force
Sometimes a scammer will just call random numbers (or send random emails) and other times they will have some information about their victims when they phone or email them.
One scam that catches some people is when someone calls up and identifies themselves as from XYZ credit card company. They will have your credit card number (not that difficult to get or buy). They will say something like We have noticed some large unauthorized charges on your account. To verify with you I am from XYZ,

RL's Digit Master Pro Big Game software download.
All I can suggest is to check your security software which might be blocking it. DM is 100% malware free
but some security settings may be preventing it from running.

Can the MM/PB bouncing balls be rigged?
So far in voting, 3 to 1 (12:4) think they can be rigged. I didn't think it would be that much, or especially those that think it was done already! (half of those that said yes)
I'm up for a good conspiracy theory as much as the next person, but always approach it from an analytical perspective. Just because you have physical ball draws, should not make you fall into a false sense of security. Magicians have relied on this kind of misdirection with a physical apparatus for centuries, making y

Laid off Oregon man wins $1 million
True and I wish him well. Several years ago when I first posted on LP, a member (Time*Treat) kept telling people to invest their money in gold. I think it was about $650 an ounce at that time. It went up to $1900 last year and is now about $1675. Had I done what he suggested (I didn't) I would have made about 150% in 5 years, but a financial planner said No, gold is too risky! However, I don't have young children to feed.
One of the best quotes I ever read about security in life was said by H

The most important thing for you when buying tickets online
The US department of Justice ruled last year that states could sell lottery products online. Illinois is the first state to legalize web based ticket sales. Illinois will require users to register with their Social Security numbers for age verification and their home addresses to confirm in-state residency, and will also incorporate geo-locating software to ensure tickets are only purchased within state boundaries.
Since I don't live in Illinois, I looked at their website. Also, the Illinois

Honestly would you really care how much taxes you had to pay??
I had a feeling someone would go for the combined numbers approach. It's a very convenient tactic, but Ridge was specifically referring to welfare and food stamps (his words), which is the 16% number. Social Security is mostly NOT welfare, it's retirement and some disabled/death benefits. Medicare/Medicaid is not all welfare, a large chunk of that is used by the aforementioned Social Security recipients and by people who don't qualify for employer-sponsored insurance. Unless you think the elderl

Downtime today
I guess what I'm trying to say is that many times third party software deletes legitimate software and calls it a trojan . Or, the third party software may be interfering with MSE's ability to detect a problem.
The other problem caused by multiple security packages is that with real-time detection one package can block another from working properly.
I've been running one and only one security package since MSE came out several years ago, and guess how many viruses I've had? Zero. (Knock wo

Downtime today
My recommendation for Windows users is to ONLY install Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), and to NOT install other anti-virus/anti-malware/anti-spam software (such as SpyBot, etc.). MSE already takes care of any malicious viruses and spambots, and adding other software only creates conflicts on your computer and really kills performance. (Third party software also tends to delete harmless stuff that can actually make your Internet experience worse.) No need for third party firewalls either --
