:: So you won the 'Big One'::
I'm not sure where they get 28% taxes taken out. They are citing florida lottery sources yet the florida lottery website states: Q. What percentage in taxes will the Lottery withhold from my prize? A. The Internal Revenue Service requires that the Florida Lottery withhold 25 percent federal withholding tax from prizes greater than $5,000 if the winner is a citizen or resident alien of the U.S. with a Social Security number. The Florida Lottery is not required to withhold federal withh

Mega Millions lottery winner proved his wife wrong
Wow, why am I not surprised that another person who won goes and runs their mouth to everybody they possibly know. 72 favorite nieces? Come on now, I bet you before you won the Mega Millions this guy most likely had a percentage of 72 favorite nieces before that especially since he collects social security benefits and everybody knows that social security barely pays enough to pay your bills with. I guess the reason that I'm commenting on this story is to just give everybody some friendly advice

Lottery firm fined $1.4 million over security breaches
The Washington, D.C. government has fined the company that runs the D.C. Lottery $1.4 million for security breaches, a decision that could reignite a debate over selecting the next contractor to operate the city's gaming industry. In a letter to Lottery Technology Enterprises, District contracting officer Eric W. Payne said the company failed to conduct proper oversight of its employees, allowing $72,855 in payouts to fraudulent winners and $86,166 in stolen tickets in 2005 and 2006. As a

Hey todd, Thanks for your input. As windows xp has it's own firewall,I also have mcAfee security suite(which has it's own firewall). Is it possible to have 2 firewalls running simultaneously?I took your advice and did the browser compatibility test.It passed in all 12.What would be a reasonable setting for security? What boggles me all the more is I've seen time and again to get your overall browsing up to speed is creating a new user account which I did with a fresh install of the newest f

Yes, it does sound like something is amiss. During the login process, Lottery Post does a browser test to see if anything is wrong with your connection. It normally places a warning on the login page if it finds something. Does it display such a warning on the login page? If so, I would recommend trying to fix whatever it found. If not, can you go to the Browser Compatibility Test in the Resources menu and click the Send to Administrator button to send me a copy? On the Firefox issue

At what jackpot will you continue or quit working?
I don't know how old you are, but after working for a long time, I developed the same type of attitude, although today $5,000 wouldn't get me very far unless I bought a tent. Anyway, as I got older, I simply didn't have the energy or strength to work at jobs that required anything physical. You never expect to get sick or hurt where you can't lift or run around on your feet all day, and suddenly your options are limited. Then, during bad economic times, there might not be any jobs at all. Howeve

What if you could pick the correct p/3# each time?
but if you knew that number and if one man, could take them for thousands everyday Before a state lottery began a pick-3 game, they had to find a method to draw the numbers that would make it impossible for any one person to know the number before each drawing and a live ball drawing was that method. When the PA pick-3 game was rigged the cheaters were caught because lottery security saw that most of the winning tickets were bought in a certain area. Any time there is a much larger than ave

Why do you play the lottery?
Several of the above would probably be my most accurate reply, but that wasn't a choice. Since I'm already retired, I can't say that to never have to work again is a reason. I have no interest in diamonds or fancy cars or a home theater, etc., though I would make an uptick in my living style. But not enough to consider to buy expensive things a major factor. I do, however, enjoy the what if's after I buy a ticket, and I often don't even check the ticket until the next day to prolong the fan

Why do you play the lottery?
But I really enjoy the what if part though. As soon as I buy my ticket, it starts. What if this is the winning ticket? I think most pick-3 and 4 players not only enjoy the what if part but have actually experienced the cashing a winning ticket part and the next time they buy a ticket they know it's a real possibility. Multi-million dollar jackpot games that could provide financial security have been around for over 20 years and most of those players have never experienced cashing the winnin
