Data breach at lottery tech vendor Brightstar exposes personal info of over 100,000 individuals
Mega Millions Price hike : In April 2025, the price of a Mega Millions ticket more than doubled, increasing from $2 to $5. This price jump was not well-received by many customers, leading them to stop playing. While the overall dollar intake and lottery profits have increased in some areas, the number of tickets sold has dropped significantly. The sharp downward trend, according to Mass Lottery Executive Director Mark William Bracken, can be traced directly to the size or rather the lack th

You Can't Lose If You Don't Play
The $tatiStics for the List you created for Me. Thank you so much. 286 combos out of a possible 1000 is 28.6% So a hit percentage greater than 28.6% is a statement of how effective the Lotterology List is performing. For the 2 Week period after you posted your list on August 26, the hit percentage was 32.14% . I have not calculated how many of the 286 Combinations would have produced a profit and other than a few suggestions on how someone other than yourself could arrive at the redu

$1.3 million Jersey Cash 5 lottery jackpot unclaimed for almost a year
JustMaybe, You just pushed the idea I have had for years into at least second place... I have always believed that *all* unclaimed funds should roll over into other Special drawings with much lower and more reasonable odds than PB MM until it was won *and* claimed. Daily? Weekly? Monthly? Holiday Drawings? By each State or Nationally? There would be many details to work out. I believe that the unclaimed funds should go to the buying public that furnished the funding in the first place.

Florida's Fantasy 5
Here's a trick players can use at the beginning of each month. In almost every month (but there have been a few months where it did not happen) all 36 of FF5's numbers will hit at least once in every calendar month. Think about it for a second. In October there will be 62 FF5 drawings held. Do you think that one number will skip the entire month of October (62 drawings) and NOT be drawn this month? I don't. As of last night, the following numbers have yet to be drawn in October. They are -

Does Lottery Software work?
The reason lottery software does not work is because the draws are memoryless . We can analyze past draws ad nauseum, but whatever was found does not carry into the future draws. Even a Markov Chain generator applies probability to the future possible states... why this fails in the lottery is that it is an independent event with no dependency on past or future events. None. I can make my own losing number picking systems for free (I do it all the time), I would never pay someone else to cre

Montana Lottery aims to prohibit bulk purchases after group takes gamble on $1.6 million jackpot
So a well designed lottery game in your estimation is one where the odds are so high, no one ever wins the jackpot, but the state in question gets money forever. OK, dude. The rest of us here are glad you don't run our state lottery as we actually buy lottery tickets to win. Now, you may be correct when referring to the new Megamillions @ $5.00 per ticket. As I wrote when it first was proposed, you will see America's first $3 ,4 or 5 billion lottery jackpot. Who knows how high it wi

MM $5, PB $2, Powerplay $1I
I'm looking at it as it's much more likely for a player to win on the gimmick considering the 292.2 million odds. Would you like to expand on that thought to see if it makes any sense? Powerplay doesn't do anything to improve your chances, much less make it much more likely. The chance of winning any prize at all is 1 in 24.87, or 4%. That means there's a 96% chance that instead of wasting $2 you've wasted $3, but while it's only half (again) as much as the regular $2 cost, that extra $1 gi

Montana Lottery aims to prohibit bulk purchases after group takes gamble on $1.6 million jackpot
This is a hard one. If I lived in Montana and played that game with hopes of winning because the odds are better, I would feel bad if an outside entity did that. Well, if I had a bunch of friends and we are stinking rich and we could go to some State and buy off a lottery and make a profit, for the fun of it and a good laugh later, would I do that? I don't know. Is it a moral or ethical question or is it a business/investor question? Well, got my PB and MM ticket, hoping no o

Location of Winners
There are several factors that contribute to this phenomenon in my country: - *Accessibility and Marketing*: Lottery tickets are often more accessible in lower-income areas, with more retailers and prominent advertising. This can make it more likely for people in these areas to buy tickets. - *Financial Stress*: People in lower-income areas may feel more financial stress and see the lottery as a way to escape their financial difficulties. This can lead to more frequent purchases. - *

$1.8 BILLION: Powerball jackpot now second-largest ever as ticket sales surge across the USA
The probability that no one wins the jackpot thus causing a rollover is given by: Chat, AI \left(1 - \frac{1}{292{,}201{,}338}\right)^N Where N is the number of tickets sold. Using estimated ranges: If N 300 million: \left(1 - \frac{1}{292M}\right)^{300M} e^{-300M / 292M} e^{-1.03} 0.36 \; (36\%) So about a 35 40% chance of rollover under that assumption. If sales are even higher as they likely are rollover odds would reduce further.
